Kratos might not the god he once was and the god he once was, was the most evil one in the entire God of War franchise.
Kratos’ character arc has gone through a massive shift in recent years. From a fierce and ruthless warrior spreading mayhem and chaos everywhere to becoming a soft and nurturing father. He left the path of hatred behind him and moved forward with the ghosts of his past, dealing with the consequences of his past actions.

However, his current demeanor could not in any way justify the villainous activities he was guilty of in the past. Some fans even consider him to be the most evil in the God of War franchise.

The God of War Kratos is guilty of mass murders, genocides, and killing gods. Especially in God of War 3 where his anger towards the gods is at its peak. In this game, he builds his path to vengeance over the dead bodies of his mortal as well as immortal enemies.
Rivers of blood flow towards the sea of despair as he kills Poseidon who does not pose any direct threat to him, but since Kratos believes that every god deserves to die for the misery they inflict upon people, he finds it necessary to kill.
Many fans believe that in God of War 3, no other god deserved to die except Zeus. However, Kratos had other plans and was adamant to kill anyone and everyone who might stand in his path of vengeance.
Fans are often engaged in a heated debate about whether Kratos should or shouldn’t have killed the other gods, especially because of the havoc that the fight leaves behind, uprooting the lives of possibly millions. Killing a god has dire consequences which Kratos was very much aware of and yet he decided to fill his heart with hatred.
This is the biggest reason why a change in his demeanor in the recent games resonates more deeply as fans see him struggle to walk a path of less violence with more compassion. He is not the god anymore he once was. In front of him, the old Kratos looks problematic.
The God of War has ever only known war

The title God of War comes with a lot of weight. Even the glory of victory fails to outshine the despair of the millions who die at your command. This title is more of a curse than a blessing.
Kratos, unable to take control of the powers he was blessed with mistook them for spreading chaos, his strength became his weakness and he kept getting more and more carried away in his selfish desires for vengeance.
Kratos truly was the most evil god, next in line to the likes of Zeus. It will take eons of retribution before he will be able to forgive himself for the sins of his past. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments below.
