A third-party analyst has revealed Remedy Entertainment’s ambitious plans and release windows for some of their upcoming games including Max Payne Remakes and Control 2.

According to the analyst’s report listed on Remedy’s website, the Max Payne remakes are slated for release in 2026, while Control 2 is expected to follow in 2027.

In their financial update for the first half of 2024, Remedy shared that Max Payne Remakes have moved into full production. This means a bigger team is now working on building the game worlds, designing levels, and coding gameplay features.

This suggests that the games are likely to be ready in about two years, possibly launching sometime around 2026. The analyst’s report suggests that the remake bundle is set to launch in the first half of 2026.

Max Payne Remakes are being developed as a single title, with a budget comparable to that of Alan Wake 2, which was approximately €50 million.

Meanwhile, Control 2 has officially started full production as of February 2025. Remedy has announced that Control 2 will move away from its action-adventure roots to become an action RPG.

This change will bring new elements like skill trees and loot systems, adding more replay value and depth to the game. It will be built using Remedy’s Northlight Engine, the same engine behind Alan Wake 2, so we can expect photorealistic visuals. In addition to the Max Payne remakes and Control 2, the studio is developing FBC: Firebreak, a multiplayer game set in the Control universe, planned for release in 2025. Interestingly, according to the same report, Alan Wake 3 and Control 3 are in the pipeline, with estimated release windows in 2029 and 2030, respectively.

The success of Alan Wake 2, which has sold over two million copies and finally turned profitable, seems to have strengthened Remedy’s belief in its shared universe plan. This strategy ties its games, like Control and Alan Wake, through connected storylines, which is a very unique concept in video games.
