Valentine’s Day is almost upon us, and with its imminent arrival comes a surprise freebie for the Harry Potter fandom.

When we think of the wizarding world, we think of the fantastical beasts and awe inspiring spells, but there’s also romance to be found there too.

This Valentine’s Day, show your beloved how you feel by joining it with the latest Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery update.

Originally, romantic goings-on was a seasonal feature of the title. However, due to enormous positive feedback, the developers made it permanent.

Since then, loved up players have gone on “over 110 million dates”.

This year’s event not only sees the return of cutesy V Day items, but also delivers a new “tale of cursed love”.

You can’t just whisk anyone away on a date though – you need to make sure you’ve gathered enough relationship points to do this. Still, the sudden influx of romantic items and tasks is sure to help Cupid’s arrow strike your one true love.

“The decorations are so cute,” exclaimed @Lulu-ty9vk after watching the Valentine’s Day update announcement.

As for the latest chapter of the Hogwarts Dairy, it’s called ‘Love and Happiness’.

Here’s a little taster of what you can expect:

“An ancient curse is plaguing the inhabitants of Hogwarts. As an unsettling wave of loneliness spreads through the halls of the castle, it’s up to you to uncover its source and put a stop to it and save your friends.”

There’s going to be “heartache, howlers, and the magic of love” in your foreseeable future, which will likely be music to the ears of gamers who’ve wanted a new story quest.

Love is in the air, but so too are freebies. If you end up lonely on V Day, at least you’ll have some Harry Potter goodies to keep you entertained.
