God Of War Ragnarök is on PlayStation Plus, though it rubbed many fans the wrong way when it initially dropped onto the service.

The problem with PlayStation Plus aside from the multiple tiers is there’s usually no telling which games will be added to its game library next, I mean did any of us expect Dragon Age: The Veilguard to be offered up as an Essential title?

When it’s not a new game though, the running joke in the PlayStation community is if you buy a game either at full-price or as part of one of the sales, it increases the chance it’ll be a PlayStation Plus game the following month.

For example God Of War players got stung by this not too long ago, when God Of War Ragnarök joined PlayStation Plus despite many people having bought it already.

“I bought Ragnarök 2 weeks ago. You’re welcome!” read one of the comments in a Reddit thread talking about the then roster.

“I bought it last month ffs” said another, and one more said “what a cheeky move to add Ragnarok after the Black Friday and Christmas sale.”

That’s just the way the cookie crumbles unfortunately, as it’s all about squeezing as much money out of players as possible.

If you didn’t buy a game when it first launched or through a sale period, you might buy yourself a PlayStation Plus subscription to play it instead.

The only upside to that is if you buy the game outright you don’t have to worry about losing access if it ever leaves PlayStation Plus, but there’s an argument to be made that you don’t really own any game anymore due to so much of it being digital now.
