THE DAY OF JACKAL: Eddie Redmayne is the gift that keeps on giving. What if Bianca didn’t die? What did you think of the ending? What do you think will happen in Part 2?

When Season 1 ended with Bianca’s death, I felt relieved that the world’s greatest marksman was not taken down in the first season. I always knew that Bianca was never his match. It was laughable for her to dream otherwise when she had witnessed firsthand the seemingly impossible feats he could accomplish. At the very least, she was able to acknowledge the truth—that he was Duggan—something others failed to recognize.

Did she really think she could step onto the devil’s turf and have enough skill to outshoot him? Such reckless arrogance.

I was never a fan of introducing a Black female agent in this role. I assume it was an attempt to inject diversity into Hollywood scripts, as is common these days. It reminded me of when the Jackal seduced a man simply as a means to an end in taking down the UDC. If they had to cast a Black female officer, it shouldn’t have been Lashana Lynch. Yes, she performed excellently in The Woman King, but she ruined this series for me. Her body language was uninspired—too mechanical for someone in her role. The only aspect she nailed was her stubbornness. Another actress should have been cast as Bianca.

Another amusing detail was the absurd notion that the Jackal’s employer—fully aware of how dangerous this hitman was—chose not to pay him. 😆🤣 This man saved your entire operation by eliminating the UDC. You even considered him your “Hail Mary” when all other options failed. So why, instead of compensating him, would you turn against him and the recruiter who brought him in? 😆🤣

Season 2 Is Going to Be Bloody!

Let me take a moment to say once again that Eddie Redmayne is a phenomenal actor. He embodied his role flawlessly! His innocent demeanor when wearing glasses would make you think he’d be scared of cockroaches and incapable of harming a fly. I remember predicting he would win an Oscar but wasn’t entirely sure—until he did. 2014 was his year after portraying the legendary physicist Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor.

Eddie Redmayne is a timeless talent!

I believe Bianca could be resurrected to add more complexity to the storyline—perhaps with a miraculous recovery thanks to a specialized bullet. Besides, it wasn’t a headshot. However, since I wasn’t fond of Bianca’s casting, I’d rather see her superior take over the hunt for the Jackal. He could channel his grief and anger into the mission.

One of the most touching moments in the finale was when the Jackal called his wife, telling her that his job was finally done—that he would return home to her and their child. When he whispered, “I love you,” it was a genuinely heartfelt moment.

What are your thoughts on the finale? What do you think will happen in Season 2?

If you haven’t watched this series yet, you’re missing out!
