‘They Shut Me Out of Inaba!’: A Cryptic Slip from a Persona 4 Star Ignites Wild Rumors of a Remake, Leaving Fans Stunned and Hungry for Answers—Uncover the Shocking Twist That’s Got Everyone Buzzing!

Persona 4 Golden Key Art A remake of Persona 4 has been long-rumored, and it may have just been confirmed in an unusual way by a social media post from one of the original game’s voice actors. Earlier this year, the website domains for the P4 remake were registered, and singer Shihoko Hirata, who was a vocalist for the original game, revealed she was recording for an unannounced game. While the game has not been officially confirmed, it looks like it may very well exist after this latest update.

According to a Bluesky post from Yuri Lowenthal, who played Yosuke in the original P4he will not be returning for the alleged remake as Yosuke. Lowenthal’s tweet says “[…] I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake. I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back” (via VGC)While not a direct confirmation, it appears the P4 remake is getting closer to an official announcement.

Persona 4 Remake Could Be On The Horizon

The Evidence Is Piling Up

Persona 3 Reload, a remake of Persona 3, was released in February 2024 to critical and commercial success. Developer Atlus saw continued success in 2024 with Metaphor: Refantazio, a new IP that went on to be widely considered one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Since P3 Reloada remake of P4 has been rumored, as fans continue the long wait for Persona 6. With all its recent success, it may be the perfect time for a P4 remake.

A more recent web domain update could be hinting at a reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8. That would follow the same pattern as Persona 3 Reload, which saw a web domain update and was then announced shortly after at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 11, 2023. If it’s there, it will likely be a day-one Xbox Game Pass title as well, just like Persona 3 Reload was. With Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: Refantazio breaking the once-niche half-turn-based-RPG-half-social-simulator barrier, a Persona 4 remake is likely on the way.

Our Take: Lowenthal’s Post Gives Even More Credibility To A Persona 4 Remake

His Message Was Straightforward

Given how cut-and-dry Lowenthal’s message is, and the fact that he implied that he really wanted to be a part of the remake, it seems to indicate that Lowenthal knows the purported game exists. Nothing has been confirmed by Atlus, and this is still an anecdotal message. Given how popular a voice actor Lowenthal is and his recent work, like Mortal Kombat 1 and the Marvel’s Spider-Man games, it doesn’t seem like he is hurting for work; it just seems like he really wanted to be a part of this alleged remake.

Recasting Yosuke in the game might bring some controversy from fans, if this statement is true. It’s possible parts of Yosuke’s dialogue will be rewritten, given his perceived homophobia to Kanji in the original game, and dialogue changes may come a new voice actor. This isn’t a direct confirmation of the Persona 4 remake, but it looks like we may be getting close to an official announcement.
