After The DCU’s First Release, Fans Are Convinced That Keanu Reeves Would Be Perfect For His Dream DC Movie Casting

The new DC Universe has only just begun, although recent episodes of Creature Commandos, its first series, have already set up Keanu Reeves’ dream role in the franchise. Following speculation of Keanu Reeves joining the MCU, the actor has also discussed interest in appearing in the DCU. While there are many roles that would fit Reeves’ unique brand of charm, brooding, and conviction, he new universe appears to be setting up one of their most popular characters in a way that I believe would suit Reeves perfectly.

Keanu Reeves is no stranger to superhero movies, having starred in Constantine. However, the actor has not yet played a significant role in any of these larger cinematic universes. After John Wick became a huge hit, it became clear that Reeves’ career is as full of life as it ever was, and the actor would be an asset, whether in Reeves’ Marvel dream roles, in DC, or in any other superhero franchise. Fortunately, it is beginning to look like there is a role that he would be perfect for, and I’d love to see him take it on.

Batman’s DCU Debut Makes A Keanu Reeves Casting Seem Better Than Ever

The Iconic Character Debuted In The Latest Creature Commandos

Creature Commandos gave Batman a brief cameo in its latest episode, finally revealing some details of what kind of Dark Knight there will be in the DCU. While rumors have circled concerning Robert Pattinson being moved over to the DCU in The Batman Part II, the simple design of the character here seems to disqualify that possibility. This Batman seems older and bigger, and has clearly been working as Batman for some time in a way that would not suit the Robert Pattinson iteration of the character.

Keanu Reeves, however, would be perfectly suited for a tougher, more worn Batman. Following the brooding darkness that he has brought to so many of his roles, there is a kind of silent dynamism that Reeves has that would differentiate his version of The Dark Knight. Adapting the character in a fresh and original way, using brutal darkness but avoiding the angst could make for a refreshing take on Batman’s story, and help to differentiate him as an important character alongside Superman in the new universe.

Keanu Reeves’ Acting History Would Work Perfectly Into A DCU Batman Casting

The Actor’s Diverse Roles Show Many Components Of The Batman Character

John Wick is, in many ways, like a retired Batman. The first film saw him returning to the world of crime as a specter that struck fear into the hearts of anyone who wished to stand in his way. With brutal vengeance, John Wick was able to serve as a terrifying one-man army, and to rip through the heart of hatred and violence in his universe. This character is an incredible prototype for Batman, and it would be an easy translation to see much of this carried over to the DCU.

More than this, however, Keanu Reeves’ most recent movie goes a long way in showing how much the actor is willing to invest himself in more family-friendly fare. Like Shadow the Hedgehog, Batman needs to find a balance between bitter anger and hopeful playfulness in this new universe. Seeing Reeves’ dedication to capturing that character accurately speaks well to his dedication to his craft, and to how well he might serve in the role of Batman in the new DCU.

The Prospect Of Keanu Reeves Playing The DC Universe’s Batman Only Seems To Get More Promising

Keanu Reeves has been among the many rumored to be cast as Batman in the DCU, and circumstances continue to align to make the actor’s place in the franchise more likely. I’d argue that the DCU needs to create a Batman like none that has been seen before, making castings like Jake Gyllenhaal and Jensen Ackles perhaps a little too familiar. Reeves, however, would be able to bring a quiet and contemplative energy that has not yet been seen with the Dark Knight.

With this Batman set to be already established, and with him having a son in the universe, it is important that a new lens be taken to Batman in the DCU. Reeves seems to be interested in taking on a massive superhero role, and this could be one of the biggest castings in the entire DCU. The franchise could do well to bring in some star power to help buttress their new universe alongside David Corenswet’s Superman, and the prospect of bringing in Reeves could help endear the franchise immediately to many audiences.

Granted, there are many actors who could take on the role of Batman in the new DCU. However, I believe it is hard to deny that Keanu Reeves may be one of the best of those choices. The actor’s history in dark and brooding roles, from John Wick to Neo, show that he has the proper energy, and his star power and dynamism could help to create something truly unique in the role. Following his recent DC Universe debut, it is only a matter of time before we find out who will next take on the iconic role of Batman.
