Assassin’s Creed Shadows has a massive list of legendary weapons for both characters, each with its own unique skill or ability buff. There are eight major weapon types in the game. Naoe’s melee weapons include the Katana, the Tanto, and the Kusarigama. Yasuke’s three melee weapons are the Long Katana, Naginata, and Kanabo, while he also has two ranged weapons, the Teppo and Bow. While you’ll find epic and lower-quality gear all over AC Shadows, legendary items are rare and require a bit more work.

Legendary weapons are awarded for finishing side and main quests, completing target boards, for tracking down treasure chests in sometimes obscure locations, or for completing Kofuns in AC Shadows, among others. Further, acquiring a legendary weapon will automatically unlock the engraving that corresponds with that particular weapon’s ability. Legendary weapons cannot be sold or dismantled, so there is no risk of losing them once acquired. Weapons will also scale with your character’s level, so the individual stats will vary depending on when you pick them up.

All Legendary Katana In AC Shadows

The Katana is the first of Naoe’s weapons you will get acquainted with in AC Shadows, and can be incorporated into any number of diverse builds, or can be buffed with other legendary items and engravings for a powerful katana-only build. Noteworthy Katana include the Dragon’s Edge, which creates an AoE on dodge attacks and is acquired by taking out one of the Onryo (Shinbakufu) leaders in AC Shadows.

The Violet Night Katana is ideal for a poison build, triggering poison buildup on any deflect, while the Yami no Kage is available pretty early on and is an excellent all-purpose damage-dealer. Dragon’s Edge is a personal favorite, coming in handy if you end up getting cornered.

All Legendary Tanto In AC Shadows

Tanto are Naoe’s dagger-type weapon that can inflict serious single-target damage and affliction buildup. Notable Tanto include Yukimitsu’s Revenge, found in the Ancient Tomb of Nanjo Kofun. This Tanto makes any afflicted enemy Vulnerable, causing them to take higher damage and essentially melting their health bar. Igan Sunset is a fun one, slowing down time when you use the Tanto Escape Strike skill in AC Shadows.

All Legendary Kusarigama In AC Shadows

The Kusarigama is Naoe’s best AoE weapon, with an iron weight attached to a chain that she can swing around violently and deal damage to all surrounding enemies. This is hands-down my favorite weapon in AC Shadows, and there are some incredible legendary options out there, such as Ocean’s Grip, acquired after defeating the Lopo Cruz target on the Pirate Alliance board. This Kusarigama increases damage on enemies over three meters away, enhancing the AoE damage for enemy swarms.

The Long Katana is Yasuke’s quickest weapon option, and there are a lot of awesome options in terms of legendaries. If you want to go the poison route with Yasuke, the Lethal Lotus Petal is an excellent option, especially when paired with certain poison-based Naginatas.

All Legendary Naginata In AC Shadows

Naginata are a bladed pole weapon that Yasuke can use effectively against multiple enemies or single targets. One Naginata you will definitely acquire in the main campaign in AC Shadows is the Sage’s Reach, rewarded for killing the Naginata Shinbakufu leader. This Naginata is one of the best options available as well, stacking damage for your next attack with each block.

The Cerulean Nexus is one of the Animus Project rewards, which is another way to acquire different legendary items in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This Naginata increases Yasuke’s shoulder tackle impact effect, knocking enemies back further and dealing slightly more damage. The Time-Honored Crescent is available somewhat early in Kashiwabara Fortress and is probably one of the first legendary Naginata you’ll come across.

Yasuke’s Kanabo are another top contender for me for best weapons in the game. This is essentially a massive bat that sends enemies flying into oblivion with well-timed hits. It’s also the highest damage-dealing weapon in the game. Recommendations include the Daybreak’s Fury legendary Kanabo, which sends shrapnel flying to hit nearby enemies when you break an enemy’s armor.

Only Yasuke has access to true ranged weapons in AC Shadows, both Bows and Teppo, with Bows being viable for Yasuke’s stealth approach. If you’re keen on affliction and specialty arrows, the Last Breath bow will instantly trigger the affliction when you land a headshot, which is pretty OP if you lean heavily into one particular affliction effect.

All Legendary Teppo In AC Shadows

The Teppo is the only type of rifle (or gun) available to use in the game, and Yasuke has some great options to choose from. Patient Harbinger gives you an extra bullet in the chamber so you don’t have to reload after every shot, while Death’s Bloom is a quick-firing option that mitigates reload speed as well. Repeating Fate is the highest damage dealer, especially at range, dealing +5% damage per meter.

Regardless of your playstyle or character preferences, there are a ton of legendary weapon options available to experiment with, and since you can re-spec for free anytime, it’s easy to try out new weapons as you pick them up. Certain legendary weapons simply outshine others in their respective categories, depending on your strategy/playstyle, such as my personal favorites, the Daybreak’s Fury Kanabo or the Ocean’s Grip Kusarigama.

As you advance through the main campaign and start completing various side quests, more and more legendary gear will be added to your arsenal. If you have a particular legendary you really like, be sure to keep upgrading it as you advance through the levels to maintain its efficacy. You can dismantle unwanted gear at the forge if you’re short on materials. Overall, legendary items are an integral part of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and will be a top priority.
