Chiefs’ latest roster moves include adding last year’s AFC Championship Game hero via practice squad elevation
The Kansas City Chiefs have made their final roster moves ahead of Saturday’s AFC divisional-round game against the Houston Texans.
According to the NFL’s official personnel notice for Friday, Jan. 17, the Chiefs have activated CB Jaylen Watson to the 53-man roster from injured reserve. They do not need a corresponding roster move, as they already had a free roster space after they put DT Marlon Tuipulotu on injured reserve.

Additionally, Kansas City elevated two players, S Deon Bush and LB Swayze Bozeman, from the practice squad for Saturday’s game.
The Chiefs are not required to make Bush or Bozeman active for Saturday’s game, but I expect them to play. Both players have been key special teams players for Dave Toub at various times. Bozeman was elevated for games against the Los Angeles Chargers (Week 14), Cleveland Browns (Week 15), and Pittsburgh Steelers (Week 17). He played 57 total special teams snaps during that span, in addition to seven defensive snaps. He recorded three combined tackles against Pittsburgh.
As for Bush, he’s made key plays as a special teamer and a depth player throughout his career. The most notable play of his career came in the playoffs last season with Kansas City. Bush recorded a game-clinching interception against Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson in the AFC title game after coming into the game in injury relief.
Bush has appeared in two games so far this season, against Houston in Week 16 and Pittsburgh in Week 17. He recorded three tackles and a fumble recovery against the Steelers, playing just 10 defensive snaps and 15 special teams snaps.
All of that said, the Chiefs could have a full seven inactive players for Saturday’s game against the Texans. If both Bozeman and Bush are active, my guess would be:
OL C.J. Hanson
OL Ethan Driskell
OL Kingsley Suamataia
CB Keith Taylor
FB/RB Carson Steele
DE Joshua Uche
DE Malik Herring
