Bethesda’s faithful recreation of Oblivion brings the classic 2006 title to modern gamers, complete with an upgraded look and plenty of quality-of-life updates.

If the over 15,000 downloads to this mod means anything, though, it seems that some fans just want to bring a little more light into the dark land of Cyrodiil. The Lumiere mod, created by Tewix on Nexus Mods, fills the lands with hundreds of sources of light that brighten up the game and make traveling across the lands under the cover of night easier and more pleasing to the eyes.

The Mod Comes With Two Lighting Styles

Lumiere aims to fix the lack of light sources in the great outdoors of Oblivion by “adding light sources where it fits.” The mod adds street lamps, signage lighting, lanterns outside of inns and buildings, and some general light sources across the roads and “a few other places” like the Imperial City Waterfront. These lights behave like real-world streetlamps, only turning on when it gets dark, then turning back off during daylight hours.

If that weren’t enough, the mod also comes with two lighting modes. Default Lumiere lights up the night skies with the light source settings that already exist in the game, making them look and behave like they were always in the game to begin with. Lumiere – Lighting Rebalanced is the modder’s own take on lighting, which softens the glow from the light sources and enhances the way it interacts with surrounding objects for “a more even and balanced experience.“
