Fans have taken it upon themselves to rewatch earlier episodes of the drama, where they’ve stumbled upon the realization that one of the series’ characters has been underappreciated and deserved a better fate. Unfortunately, all signs point to this Yellowstone character potentially meeting their end this season.
Dozens of Yellowstone fans have taken to the internet to express why they feel the series’ treatment of one of its key characters, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), has been less than satisfactory. Viewers seem particularly frustrated with how ineffectively Jamie has been portrayed over the last few seasons.
As one Yellowstone fan explained in early 2024, they’re rewatching the series and can’t help but feel sorry for Jamie. He was written as a tough lawyer in season 1, but was weakened from the second season onwards until he eventually became a burden.

More than anything, Yellowstone fans seem puzzled about how Jamie went from being an efficient problem-solver and smart fixer to someone who constantly appears less capable than the other main characters. As the show progresses, everyone acts as if Jamie has been a weak-willed failure his entire life, wrote a fan in a separate Reddit thread.
Unfortunately, it’s unclear if the remaining episodes of Yellowstone will address the fans’ legitimate criticisms regarding Jamie’s treatment on the show. What is certain is that the feud between Jamie and Beth in Yellowstone is set to escalate even further, leading to an explosive conclusion.
