There are some things that gamers just need to do. Whether it’s leaning forward after going one down in FIFA or holding the thumbstick forward while in a vehicle even though you don’t have to, it just feels natural. It doesn’t add or subtract anything from the input or even the gameplay, but most of us do it just because it feels right.

In the case of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, mouse and keyboard players might hold down the ‘W’ while riding the horse even though there’s no need. The game throws up a notification that you don’t need to do so, just for your convenience, which you can totally just ignore. The problem is that it pops up almost every time you do it, to the annoyance of many.

I’ll Hold Down ‘W’ If I Want To!

The most annoying part about this pop-up is that it doesn’t go away by itself, so you can’t really ignore it. Not only do you have to press an input to make it go away, but you have to hold it. This has resulted in many players holding down ‘W’ in sheer spite at the game, as illustrated by slowbromow’s post on Reddit.

The comments section is filled with other such players who are annoyed by this one particular pop-up. While some suggested simply turning tutorial op-ups off, newbies to the series, like myself, need the other tutorials. “Yeah, they need a “turn off repetitive hint” and the hints come back on each time you start the game again, because my dumb ass will forget how to do something simple,” suggested one player.

 

“I will continue to hold W because this is an RPG and the devs are waiting for me to fall for this trick to kill me in game. I’m not falling for it,” said another comment, which seriously has some trust issues. It seems players just feel more comfortable holding down an input to move forward, and I can relate.

At this point, the pop-up has pretty much become a meme in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 community, much like not attending the wedding.
