I’ll be honest, I’m not someone who’s pining for more Bloodborne – it’s simply not my kind of game.
But I will do anything I can to fight the good fight, because I see the pain my friends go through every time they clown for a Bloodborne reveal only to leave a showcase feeling, once again, disappointed.
It does feel somewhat like Bloodborne has been laid to rest.
The only reason I say that is because an appetite for more has been there for years, and yet nothing has come to light in the way of a sequel, remaster, or remake.
Yes, something could change if Sony is able to successfully acquire Kadokawa, FromSoftware’s parent company.
While no such acquisition has yet been agreed, discussions are ongoing with Sony now having bought shares to be a majority shareholder in the company with 10% to its name.
In the meantime, please allow me to attempt to alleviate your disappointment by pointing you in the direction of a fantastic fan project.
Naturally, it’s not going to hit quite the same but if you’ve run out of copium and crave a Bloodborne fix, this fan-made remaster might be just what you’re after.
The Bloodborne Remaster Project is the work of modder fromsoftserve – and Version 0.8 is now available for PC users to download via shadPS4.
The project does what it says on the proverbial tin, overhauling Bloodborne’s graphics to inject it with a new lease of life.
Let’s face it, Bloodborne already looks fantastic but with this mod, you can enjoy dynamic shadowcasting, improved textures, and increased depth of range and shadow visibility.
In this latest update, the focus is on lighting with various in-game lamps, lanterns, and streetlights having received improved shadowcasting.
That’s far from being all that’s new as fromsoftserve has also fixed fog effects found throughout the game, and added more light sources across Byrgenwerth, Cathedral Ward, and central Yarnham.
If this is the first you’re hearing of this emulated project, expect a few hiccups. Bloodborne isn’t natively available on PC so it’s not a perfect port but it’s not far off.
If you want to dive in, you can experience the Bloodborne Remaster Project for free via shadPS4 right now.
