Developed by Eko Software, Dragonkin: The Banished is an upcoming RPG that should scratch the itches of those who enjoy the likes of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and God of War.
Launching on PC in early access on 6 March, the game offers a thrilling single-player adventure that’ll see you seek to “tame your dragonets, create unique power builds with the Ancestral Grid, [and] expand your city and destroy the Dragons.”
The game will be published by NACON and although it’s only on PC that you’ll be able to enjoy the aforementioned early access period, Dragonkin: The Banished will eventually also release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
“Dive into Dragonkin: The Banished, a world corrupted by the blood of dragons, where evil creatures rise from the entrails of the earth. Choose one of the legendary hero classes, each with a single mission: hunt down and destroy the draconic creatures,” the synopsis reads.
“Each battle brings you closer to your ultimate goal: finding and eliminating the terrifying Dragon Lords. Experience an epic adventure and forge your legend with the blood of your slain enemies.”
I shouldn’t need to explain that it’s the high-fantasy setting, filled with dragons, that I’m sure will appeal to fans of Skyrim.
As for you God of War folk, well, Dragonkin: The Banished utilises hack n’ slash features in its combat – and it’s a genre that the studio, Eko Software, is well versed in.
The game is being created in Unreal Engine 5 so you should expect dazzling visuals, and this is impressively coming from a team of just 30 developers.
That’s the reason for the early access period so this small, but ambitious, team has the opportunity to iron out any creases.
The early access period will allow you to play through the prologue and Act One as one of three classes.
You’ll be able to acquire gear and begin expanding your skills, leveling up as you do so.
There is a roadmap so the content included in the early access period should expand in time, with the addition of online multiplayer, new biomes, and a fourth added character all planned.
The full game’s release date remains unconfirmed, so PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will have to remain patient for now.
