Michael Huntley is reflecting on his victory on “The Voice,” and he thinks there is one big reason why he won the show.
“I wasn’t expecting to win, so when I got that opportunity, I just wanted to make the most of it. When I did win, I was a little shocked,” the soul-rock musician said in a December 19 interview with Northern Virginia Magazine.
“There were the pros and cons that came with winning. Before, I wasn’t really set on what happens when you win in terms of what you’re given or the prize money or anything like that. I just wanted to make sure that I created experiences,” he added.
Huntley noted in the interview, “A lot of ‘The Voice’ winners release covers, or they’re bound by contract what they can or can’t release. I feel like the reason I won the show was because I stayed genuine. “
The Virginia native was the winner of the 24th season of “The Voice.”
“As far as next year, I can’t say too much, but I have so much exciting stuff that I can’t wait to really celebrate with everybody in 2025. I’m doing some things that no Voice winner or contestants have ever done before, so I’m excited,” he said in the magazine interview.
Michael Huntley Called Returning to ‘The Voice’ This Season ‘Unreal’
After his big win, Sofronio Vasquez got some fashion help from Snoop Dogg, and joined recent winners Asher HaVon and Huntley onstage.
On Instagram, Huntley has shared videos showing his return to “The Voice” this season, where he shared his new song, “Skyline Drive.”
“Huge fan in Arizona. Love your vibe,” a fan wrote. “Great song and he is so good!!” another fan responded.
On December 14, he shared a photo with “The Voice” coach Gwen Stefani and wrote, “What a night @nbcthevoice Season 26 finale—surreal moments with the legends @gwenstefani @reba @michaelbuble @dorylobel @mylessmithuk @snoopdogg and @thereal.efrenramirez … Grateful for it all.”
He added, “Returning to Season 26 of @nbcthevoice and performing my latest single, Skyline Drive was unreal! It was an honor to be among some of the most talented people in the world and icons I grew up listening too.”
Michael Huntley Called Virginia America’s ‘Hidden Gem’ in the Interview
Huntley also shared why he writes about Virginia, his home state, in his music.
“I fell in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains. I grew up around Lake Anna and from afar, you can see the Blue Ridge Mountains,”he said in the interview.
“I was always intrigued because right around fall, you can see through the tree lines. I always loved going in the springtime out to the mountains, and that was what inspired me in my writing, the beauty of Virginia. I feel like it’s America’s hidden gem.”
He added to the publication, “After winning the show, I think it was the right time to pay homage to the state I love so dearly. It sounds like I’m singing about a girl, but it’s really my love for Virginia.”
