If you haven’t landed on a favorite strategy for Sciel in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you’re definitely going to want to try out one weapon that functions very differently from anything else in her arsenal. Sciel is one of the most unique characters in the game, and her Twilight mechanic is one of the most powerful combat systems available. With dozens of Sciel weapons scattered across the Continent, her double-bladed scythes are all powerful in their own individual ways. However, there’s one weapon I can’t put down, even if it comes with a curse.

Corderon is easily my favorite weapon for Sciel in Clair Obscur, as it has one of the most unique mechanics of all the scythes in the game. Corderon functions differently than most weapons you’ll find, inflicting a curse at the beginning of battle that can actually kill Sciel if not maintained. However, this curse is more of a blessing, as you’ll get an automatic 50% damage bonus right away without doing anything other than having Corderon equipped.

Corderon Is My Top Choice For Sciel Weapons In Clair Obscur, Even If There Are Better Options

I Can’t Recommend Sciel’s Corderon Enough

While there are probably better weapons for Sciel in the game, Corderon is the most fun I’ve had playing as Sciel, and it’s not even close. Sciel easily has some of the best and most diverse options when it comes to weapons in Clair Obscur, from Lusteson to Tisseron to Charnon and beyond. But there’s a special place in my heart for the accursed Corderon weapon. It’s become my go-to weapon and preferred strategy for a Sciel build in Clair Obscur, and it’s one of the first weapons I try to pick up when starting a new playthrough.

You can grab Corderon in the Sinister Cave east of Sirene during Act 2 of the game, and you don’t even technically need to defeat any enemies in order to get it. The Sinister Cave has a few decent pieces of loot, so be sure to take out the Chromatic Chalier enemy to get the Chalium weapon for Maelle while you’re there, and don’t forget to grab the Elerim for a decent Lune weapon in there as well. The Corderon, however, is the best pickup in the Sinister Cave by a large margin.

While the curse is a risk, it’s one well worth taking.

Corderon’s curse gives Sciel an automatic 50% damage buff and resets when she enters Twilight state, with its level 20 bonus effect letting her play again once she enters Twilight. You can max out Defense and Luck to scale up Corderon’s damage, which will increase your Speed in turn, as well as mitigate damage from enemy attacks.

Sciel Is An Underrated Character With Diverse Playstyles

Corderon has become my favorite weapon for Sciel, even if there are a ton of other great options. It opened my eyes to just how diverse and versatile Sciel can be compared to other party members, and she’s easily become one of my top contenders for favorite character in Clair Obscurr. I initially played Sciel as a strictly defensive support character, but I realized shortly thereafter how limiting this idea was. Sure, she has excellent support skills, such as Harvest, Grim Harvest, and Plentiful Harvest, but these can still be utilized while building her up for dealing damage.

Sciel is not only viable as an offensive or support character, but she’s also capable of dealing incredible amounts of damage as a solo build. The bottom line is that you shouldn’t be sleeping on Sciel, especially considering the range of different strategies you can use based on her various weapons and unique skills. Sciel is up there with Maelle in terms of damage capabilities, assuming you have the proper buffs/debuffs equipped and know how to utilize her Sun, Moon, and Twilight system properly.

If you’re struggling to figure out Sciel’s mechanics or narrow down which weapon you want to use for her, I’d test out multiple options, with Corderon being high on that list. It might sound intimidating, but you shouldn’t let the curse scare you away from this incredible Sciel weapon in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
