What’s next for Daryl and Carol? AMC’s latest move will leave you speechless! 😱

It’s been a decade and a half since The Walking Dead premiered in 2010, and almost three years since the original show concluded in 2022. However, the universe keeps thriving with several spinoffs.

The AMC hit zombie series has spawned multiple spinoffs, but now only two of them remain: The Walking Dead: Dead City, which follows Maggie and Negan’s adventures in New York, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which continues the fan-favorite character’s adventures in Europe. The two series have received mixed reviews, but have continued to be widely popular. Ahead of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3’s premiere on Sept. 7, AMC has just confirmed at San Diego Comic Con at Hall H that Carol and Daryl’s adventures will officially continue with the fourth and final season.

The new season will premiere shortly, and the cast and executive producers will do their best not to keep fans waiting. Alongside the renewal announcement of the fourth and final season, they also announced production will start this month in Spain, where Season 3 was filmed.

The upcoming Season 4 will consist of eight episodes, and will officially bring back Norman Reedus as the titular character and Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier, alongside other characters introduced this season. Filming locations will include Spain’s capital, Madrid, as well as Bilbao, Galicia, Andalucía, the Segovia region, Toledo, and the Community of Madrid.

Daryl and Carol have taken fans on an unforgettable and intensely human journey of challenge, survival, hope, and friendship.

The Comic-Con panel also included a preview of what’s to come in Season 3, and unveiled the first look at the new season’s official trailer. The panel included series stars and executive producers Reedus and McBride, showrunner David Zabel, executive producer Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of The Walking Dead Universe, and executive producer Greg Nicotero.

In a statement, President of Entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks Dan McDermott, said: “Across two extraordinary series spanning almost two decades — Norman and Melissa have given life to two of the most iconic characters in the history of television. Daryl and Carol have taken fans on an unforgettable and intensely human journey of challenge, survival, hope, and friendship, and the response from fans, from the very first moments of The Walking Dead, has been remarkable.”

The statement continued, “We can’t wait to share the upcoming third season of Daryl this fall and to begin production on this fourth and final season in Spain. Whatever awaits these two beloved characters, we know The Walking Dead Universe is a timeless franchise that holds endless possibilities for story and characters, new and old.

Reedus, who has been with the franchise since its premiere, shared, “Daryl Dixon has been an incredible journey. I thank each and every fan who has joined us on this ride. It’s been a privilege to build this story for these characters, and we have so much gratitude for how it’s been embraced. Your love and support have made every moment worth it.” The Ballerina actor continued, “This finale isn’t just an ending; it’s a celebration of what we’ve all shared together. Keep carrying that love forward – Daryl’s journey is far from over.”

Melissa McBride, who has also been with the franchise since the beginning but wasn’t a big part of Daryl Dixon Season 1, continued: “It has been the thrill of a lifetime to shoot this part of Daryl and Carol’s adventure together in Europe, and I keep coming back for more of these two characters. There is still so much story left to tell and so much for the fans to look forward to. I’m going to revel in the moments as they come and am excited for the fans to see what we have been working on in these incredible locations.”
