The Walking Dead: Dead City, the show following Maggie and Negan’s adventures in New York City, is set to wrap Season 2 on June 22 with an adrenaline-filled finale. So far, AMC hasn’t announced the plans for what’s to come next, but worry not: there’s another The Walking Dead series coming next. Per Deadline, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will return with Season 3 on Sept. 7.
For the upcoming series, Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol are heading to Spain in Daryl Dixon Season 3. The 30-second teaser shows them across the ocean, far from safe, as a new fight begins on a different continent. The logline reads, “The road home is brutal and the fight to survive is far from over.”
The spinoff series premiered on Sept. 10, 2023, and received positive reviews from the critics but mixed responses from the audience. Season 1 has a 70% Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, but only 52% from the audience. Season 2, which returned one year later on Sept. 29, 2024, had even lower scores from the audience. The critics gave the show a similar rating, 69%, which still maintains a “fresh” badge, but the audience gave the follow-up season only 43%.
The spinoff series follows Daryl as he washes ashore in France and struggles to remember how he got there. The show follows his journey across France and his hopes to find a way to go back home. Season 2, The Book of Carol, brings back Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), a fan-favorite from the original series. The duo struggles with old demons and Daryl’s decision to stay in France.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 follows their journey to try to return home, this time, changing the location from France to Spain. The description notes, “As they struggle to find their way back, the path takes them farther astray, leading them through distant lands with ever-changing and unfamiliar conditions as they witness the various effects of the Walker apocalypse.”
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 Will Introduce New Cast Members
The spinoff series will bring back the two fan-favorite The Walking Dead stars, Daryl and Carol. As their journey reaches Spain, the duo will be joined by several newcomers. Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, and Alexandra Masangkay will join as series regulars, where they play Antonio, Fede, and Paz, respectively.
