David Corenswet’s love for the Star Wars universe is enough for Henry Cavill fans to start liking him in the role of Superman in DCU.

After loving Henry Cavill in the role, fans may take time to get used to David Corenswet as Superman. But it appears that Corenswet is seemingly making it easier for fans to like him. One of the huge reasons that the comic book fandom rallied behind Cavill was his knowledge of all things geeky. And now, Corenswet’s love for the Star Wars franchise has convinced fans that he is a nerd too.

The teaser became one of the biggest trailer debuts ever with 250 million views.
David Corenswet is winning over fans with Henry Cavill-level nerdiness

David Corenswet is obsessed with the Star Wars franchise. Other than Superman, Corenswet’s dream role is to play a Jedi in George Lucas’ films. Earlier, during his appearance on the Manly Things (sort of) podcast, he shared that his love for the space opera began when he was just a kid.
In a short clip shared by ComicBook.com on Instagram, Corenswet can be seen reciting a Star Wars scene while driving his car. He was reciting word-for-word the Death Star scene from Star Wars: A New Hope. The video has apparently won fans for the actor after they found him just as relatable as Henry Cavill.
Cavill has been the nerd icon for fans, often showing his love for comics and games in interviews. And now, fans on Instagram expressed their surprise at Corenswet’s Star Wars love. Many admitted that they have started liking the actor as Superman, with some of the fan reactions reading:
Alright he’s winning me over.

Ok I like this guy and want him to succeed at all costs!
@jasonmarsden
Okay.. I’m a die hard Star Wars fan.. and was on the fence about a new Superman ever since the mistreatment of Cavill. Seeing this.. I’ll admit ..i misjudged.

Need a conversation between him and Cavill

Yep he is now golden as far as I am concerned. Most impressive.

During another interview that appeared on X, Corenswet shared that as a child, he dreamed of having one superpower. He shared that he believed he could master the Force and tried to move objects with his powers. He said, “And probably one of those times I half convinced myself that like it shook a little bit or something.” Seems like he would have to settle with a different set of superpowers now.
Henry Cavill’s nerd knowledge is out of this world

Henry Cavill landed his Man of Steel role only after his second attempt at auditioning for Superman. He also auditioned for McG’s canceled Superman project, Superman: Flyby. Interestingly, Cavill was well-versed in the Kryptonian’s story from DC Comics.
Similarly, when he was cast as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher, he had already read Andrzej Sapkowski’s books. He was often the best source of information during the filming of the series. He left the series after the third season mainly because the series deviated heavily from the lore, which he couldn’t agree with.
The Tudors star is also known to be an avid game player. He has played The Witcher video games but his all-time favorite is Warhammer 40000. He even revealed to Graham Norton once that one of his hobbies was to paint Warhammer miniatures. Cavill is all set to make a series based on the game in association with Amazon (via Variety).
Cavill nearly lost his Man of Steel role as he was playing World of Witchcraft when Zack Snyder called to inform him that he got the part (via Graham Norton). The Argylle actor is also tech-savvy and knows how to build a computer.
Superman is set to hit the theaters on July 11, 2025.
