Astronomer CEO Andy Byron has resigned following his cheating scandal with co-worker Kristin Cabot.
âAs stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,â a rep for the tech company told Page Six on Saturday.
âAndy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.â

The statement continues, âBefore this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI.â
Astronomer concludes, âWhile awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not. Weâre continuing to do what we do best: helping our customers with their toughest data & AI problems.â
According to the New York Post, Byronâs resignation punctuated his highly-public downfall from a job that paid him between $US469,000 and $US690,000 ($A717,000 to $A1 million) a year, plus performance-based bonuses.
He is believed to be worth $US50 million ($A76 million), and the most recent valuation for Astronomer placed the companyâs worth at $US1.3 billion ($A2 billion).
The resignation comes less than 24 hours after Astronomer announced Byron and Cabot had been put on leave and that a formal investigation was pending.

âAstronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability,â the company wrote via LinkedIn on Friday.
âThe Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly.â
It then declared, âAlyssa Stoddard was not at the event and no other employees were in the video. Andy Byron has not put out any statement, reports saying otherwise are all incorrect.â
Stoddard is an Astronomer employee who works under Kristin.
Many people online speculated that she was the brunette woman beside the HR exec in the now-viral kiss cam video who seemed embarrassed.
However, a rep for Astronomer reiterated exclusively to Page Six on Friday, âAlyssa was not there. This is a rumour started on Twitter.
âThere may be some similarities in the countenance of the person, but itâs not [Stoddard]. So [the rumour] is totally false based on misinformation.â
Byron and Cabot were caught canoodling via a jumbotron camera at a Coldplay concert in the Boston-area on Wednesday night.
The couple sparked confusion when they reacted by trying to hide from the cameras when they saw themselves on the screen.
Both Byron and Cabot are reportedly married to other people.
Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, joked at the time, âEither theyâre having an affair or theyâre just very shy.â
Their wild reactions sparked tons of memes that even Astronomerâs interim CEO, Pete DeJoy, recently seemed to admit that he enjoyed laughing at.

Mr DeJoy âlikedâ a LinkedIn post from Zachary Hensley â who was the vice president of technology and operations at Astronomer from 2019 to 2024 â in which he admitted, âYes, Iâve laughed at the memesâ, reports Page Six.
The former staffer shared, however, that he had mixed feelings about the entire ordeal, adding, âBut I also know Astronomer is more than one moment or one person. Itâs a team of smart, kind, driven people doing incredible work. And Iâll always be rooting for them.â
Mr Hensley noted in his post that despite seeing all of the memes and having shared âmore than a few,â he âfelt a strange mix of pride, nostalgia, and whiplashâ before gushing about his time at the tech company.
He concluded his lengthy post by writing, âTo the Astronomer crew â past and present â I love yâall. Keep going. Keep building. Youâve got thisâ.
Mr DeJoyâs reaction to the post appears to signify that much of what Mr Hensley said resonated with him.
The former colleagues seem to share a close bond. Mr Hensley wrote via LinkedIn on Friday in response to the news that Mr DeJoy had been named Astronomerâs interim CEO, âPete DeJoy is amazing. Iâm so excited for him. Love you Peteyâ.
According to his LinkedIn page, Mr DeJoy has worked at Astronomer for eight years, with his most recent role being chief product officer. He has also worked as a vice president of product and is a co-founder.
A spokesman for Astronomer confirmed to Page Six via email late on Friday night that: âCofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is currently serving as interim CEO given Andy Byron has been placed on leave. We will share more details as appropriate in the coming days.â

Meanwhile, it was later revealed Byron is married to a woman named Megan Kerrigan Byron, who has since removed his last name from her Facebook and deactivated her social media accounts.
Ms Cabot divorced her first husband, Kenneth Thornby, in 2022, according to Massachusetts court records obtained by The Post.
However, it appears she may now be married to Privateer Rumâs CEO Andrew Cabot, since they share the same last name and are co-owners of the same house in New Hampshire.
Neither Byron nor Cabot have commented on the affair allegations, but Astronomer released an official statement on Friday, revealing the company had launched a formal investigation into the matter.
âAstronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability,â the statement read.
âThe Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly.â
