Gamers are highly excited to get their hands on the Obsidian’s Avowed, given the studio’s track record. The title has also already seen its fair share of controversies and concerns, but the director’s latest remark might just take the cake.

Avowed director Carrie Patel has recently claimed that the RPG will have some jank to it at launch—the sort of unexpected glitches that can sometimes interfere with gameplay. Fans are concerned that this little tidbit might suggest an underlying issue with bugs in Avowed.

In an interview with YouTuber Minnmax, Carrie Patel answered rapid-fire questions to address any queries fans have held over the development period. The director says that a little jank, at least, is necessary for a fun and creative experience.

In the past, Xbox boss Phil Spencer had mentioned that Avowed was not delayed at all because it was in bad shape in an attempt to clear the air and growing concerns. On the flip side, the director seems to imply that the RPG will not be the most polished at launch.

Regardless, Avowed is said to be skipping 60FPS on the Xbox Series S, but the director also noted that it ‘can’ climb up to 60FPS on the Series X. Avowed’s demo received more negative feedback than initially expected.
For those not in the know, Avowed is set to come out on February 18th, 2025. Many aspects of the title appear to be overhauled after a lot of fan feedback, so it is best to take these subtle implications with a pinch of salt.
