Fans of Assassin’s Creed who enjoy diving into history should keep an eye out for this exciting new release which takes place during the Aztec Empire.

I don’t know about you but a lot of my interest in history stemmed from playing Assassin’s Creed as a child, and I’m not afraid to admit that.

For many gamers my age, the Ubisoft series was a foot in the historical door, so to speak and since then, I have retained my urge to explore different historical periods through my love of video games.

Which is why games such as the upcoming Ecumene Aztec have caught my attention.

Developed by Ecumene Games with a TBA release date, Ecumene Aztec is a third-person action-adventure game set during the historical Aztec Empire.

“The Great Tenochtitlan is on fire. Now that the war has broken out, I must choose whether to join our compatriots to repel the invader, or to join the newcomers who want to liberate us from the priests sacrificing our own brothers and children,” the official Steam synopsis reads.

You will play as the warrior who is at home in the jungles and this is where they will prepare to face their destiny.

“It is the jungle that will allow me to prepare myself.

I know these areas. It is my home. The place where I grew up.

I will use whatever the gods send me.”

Although not born a warrior, you will learn how to be as silent as a serpent, as strong as a jaguar and as swift as an eagle thanks to sacrifice to Huītzilōpōchtli – the lord of war, and Quetzalcoatl – the great teacher.

The Assassin’s Creed saga has taken us to many periods of history from Ancient Egypt to Ancient Greece, Renaissance Italy to 9th-century Baghdad but with the series not touching upon the Aztecs, Ecumene Aztec may just capture our interest just as much.
