Both Rachel Zegler Snow White Live Action Trailers Hit 1 Million Dislikes on YouTube as Backlash Over Star’s Behavior Continues

Disney’s live-action Snow White remake has reached another milestone, but not the kind the studio was hoping for. As first pointed out by Breitbart, both Snow White trailers have now surpassed one million dislikes on YouTube, signaling a continued downward spiral in audience reception. The overwhelmingly negative response started with the first teaser trailer in mid-2024 and has only worsened with each subsequent release.

The teaser trailer, which debuted last year, currently sits at 1.5 million dislikes compared to just 101,478 likes.

The official Snow White trailer, released in December, has fared no better, amassing over 1,015,508 dislikes while struggling to gain even 40,530 likes. Meanwhile, the Christmas Day sneak peek—showcasing Rachel Zegler’s song “Waiting on a Wish”—has also been met with an overwhelmingly negative reaction, with 45,000 dislikes dwarfing its meager 4,875 likes.

Compounding Disney’s embarrassment, a viral parody video that transforms negative audience comments into a heavy metal song has gained nearly far more likes than any of Snow White’s official trailers—further cementing the film’s status as an industry laughingstock.

Apathy may be Disney’s biggest enemy. While initial outrage over Snow White fueled engagement, the latest trends suggest audiences have simply lost interest. Unlike successful marketing campaigns that build excitement over time, Snow White’s promotional material has only repelled potential viewers, with each trailer generating less buzz than the last.

Disney’s troubles don’t end with public reception—the film’s production has also been plagued with issues. Reports indicate that Snow White’s budget has ballooned past $300 million due to multiple reshoots and creative overhauls. Given the massive financial investment, Snow White would need an extraordinary box office performance just to break even, an increasingly unlikely scenario.

While the film’s weak CGI, uninspired visuals, and questionable creative decisions have drawn criticism, much of the backlash has centered around its lead actress, Rachel Zegler.

From the moment she was cast, Zegler positioned herself as a divisive figure, making controversial statements that alienated large segments of the audience. She addressed news of her casting by claiming she wouldn’t “bleach her skin” to play the role—despite no one suggesting she should. She then proceeded to insult the original 1937 animated classic, calling it outdated, sexist, and problematic.

Adding to the controversy, Zegler sparked outrage with political remarks, using the Snow White trailer’s publicity to promote her stance on issues in the Middle East, a move that many found inappropriate given the film’s apolitical nature. Matters escalated further after the 2024 U.S. presidential election when she attacked then President-elect Donald Trump and his 76.8 million voters. In an unhinged Instagram rant, Zegler declared “May Trump and his supporters never know peace” and claimed they were part of a “deep, deep sickness in this country.”

The backlash to her incendiary comments forced her to issue a hollow apology, though whether it was sincere is debatable.

This isn’t the first time Zegler has turned off audiences. Even before She’s been widely criticized for her elitist attitude and tone-deaf remarks, including comparing herself to priceless art in the Louvre. Her latest film, Y2K, bombed at the box office, grossing a dismal $4.4 million—further proving that her name alone is not enough to sell a movie.

With both of Snow White’s trailers exceeding one million dislikes and viewership declining with each new promotional release, the signs of impending disaster are evident. Rather than generating excitement, the film is inspiring apathy, a nightmare scenario for any major blockbuster.

Disney’s Snow White remake was supposed to modernize a beloved classic for a new generation, but instead, it has alienated core audiences while failing to attract new ones. With a massive budget hanging over its head and dwindling interest months before release, this project is shaping up to be one of Disney’s most catastrophic flops in years.
