Sandfall Interactive, the studio behind Expedition 33, is indeed based in Montpellier, France, the same place where one of Ubisoft’s studios is based. While it is easy to see how the studio’s head, Guillaume Broche, was an earlier employee at the other studio, the crossover of the talent pool remains limited to him and hardly a few more members.

Why do rumors like these matter? Well, they also do a disservice to the actual developers at Sandfall Interactive. Furthermore, as noted by Rock Paper Shotgun, a lot more than 30 people are involved when talking about the brains behind the recent hit.

As could be seen in the game’s official credits, the list of people who have worked on the game is large and features way more names than what we get to see in headlines. Maybe the inner core team behind the game is 30 people large, but it doesn’t remain fair to not credit other people who have contributed to it.

At its core, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 looks promising, and no matter the number of people who have worked on it, it was bound to be a hit, thanks to its visuals, the turn-based combat style, and the awesome storyline that comes with it.
