A “free-to-play co-op” shooter made in Unreal Engine 5 that looks like a mix between Call of Duty and Tom Clancy’s: Ghost Recon just received a release date on Steam, and the fact that this one is free seems way too good to be true.

Delta Force – Black Hawk Down is a free upcoming piece of DLC for the free-to-play team-based tactical shooter Delta Force (2024) by developers Team Jade, and you can get your hands on the co-op campaign add-on tomorrow.

In a bit of a surprising one-eighty, Team Jade announced on Steam yesterday that the DLC campaign would now be free for all users, after having previously announced that Delta Force – Black Hawk Down would actually be paid content.

“The Black Hawk Down Co-op Campaign will be available for free starting February 21 at 3AM (UTC+0) on PC,” Team Jade revealed in an update on Steam.

“In this intense co-op mode, you’ll step into the boots of an elite Delta Force operator, thrown back into a chaotic battlefield filled with grit and courage… Fight side by side with your comrades, relive the desperate moments of survival under enemy fire, and embrace the unshakable conviction that “No one gets left behind.” This isn’t just a battle—it’s a test of humanity and courage.

So, how do you claim Delta Force – Black Hawk Down for yourself? No tricks or loopholes here, thankfully. Simply head on over to the Delta Force page on Steam, redeem the base game (for free) and then download Delta Force – Black Hawk Down when it goes live tomorrow.

I’m genuinely curious what led them to offer this one up for free, because the preview stuff I’ve read for it seems pretty positive. It just looks like a fun, bonafide co-op campaign you can play with your buddies for the low, low cost of £0.

If it’s just a fancy marketing ploy then consider me impressed, because it’s worked on me. Hopefully ,this one lives up to the hype that the previews have set.
