In April, Sandfall Interactive released its highly anticipated title, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and it quickly became one of the most popular turn-based role-playing games in the world. Its unique combat is one of the main reasons behind its success, however, many players are still struggling to understand the best builds.

The game offers six playable characters, with each having unique skill trees, weapons, and gameplay mechanics. One of these characters is Verso, who is a great character, but to unlock the character’s true potential, players must try out this insane build, which gives him almost unlimited free-aim shots, making it seem like he is wielding a machine gun.

Verso’s full potential really unlocks towards the end of Act 2 and entirely during Act 3. YouTuber RedGael has put together a crazy Verso build that will help players dominate every fight they engage in. To get Verso in action, players must gather as much “Perfection” as possible, because Verso struggles early in the battle. Getting damaged with derank the Perfection rank, so make sure you know how to defend.

Building “Perfection” rank is important as it deals a lot of extra damage to the enemies. At S rank, each move can increase damage by 200%. First, we will break down all the skills that are highly effective early on in the battle:

Paradigm Shift: This move doesn’t really deal damage, but it will help players in generating AP, which will increase Perfection.
Follow Up: A core skill which will only cost 2 AP at S rank.
Blitz: This serves as a good utility until better options unlock, not to mention it gives players an extra turn.
Perfect Break: An amazing skill that will allow players to reach high ranks quickly.
End Bringer: As the name suggests, this ability can finish off stunned enemies by inflicting extreme damage.
Steeled Strike: This skill also deals a lot of damage to single targets.

During Act 1-2, players must focus on using free-aim shots and basic attacks to reach C rank, then, by using Paradigm Shift, players can reach the B rank and gather AP.

After reaching rank A or S, players can either continue using free-aim shots and basic attacks or use their high-cost abilities. Keep using Blitz at this point to get a second turn. As for the Pictos, Verso needs heavy Lumina investment to reach his true potential. The YouTuber has shared a guide explaining all the best early as well as late Pictos.

These Verso skills will be highly useful in Act 3

Once players hit Act 3, there’s no point in using Paradigm Shift as AP farming is out of the picture. Now players can use these skills to inflict damage:

Phantom Stars: A crazy move that deals massive AoE damage at the cost of only 5 AP.
End Bringer: Once again, this move will be highly useful after players inflict damage with Phantom Stars.
Speed Burst: If players somehow die, they will restart at D rank with Speed Burst.

The game plan here is to inflict a lot of damage with Phantom Stars and then use Follow Up for a lot of single-target damage. With Pictos, the free-aim shots and basic attacks become a lot stronger, so players must heavily rely on them.

As for the weapons, there are a few great options that players can pick in order to build up Perfection during the battle. Here is a quick summary:

Dualiso: Enhances basic attack and gives extra turn; however, it doesn’t scale well with Verso’s best stats.
Lanceram: A decent pick if you constantly find yourself getting hit and losing Perfection.
Contoso: Probably the strongest pick as it scales with agility, gives players a 100% crucial chance at S rank, and triggers lightning strikes.
Chevalam: The best weapon in the late game as it starts at S rank, gives 100% damage boost, scales with agility and luck, and grants Rush.

As for the Attributes, prioritize Agility, then Luck, and finally, Might. Invest heavily in Pictos, particularly Cheater and Cheater, as they play a key role in making Verso’s attack like a machine gun. For Companions, go with Sciel for extra turns and damage. Lune and Monoco are also great options, but Sciel might be the best pick.
