šØ EXCLUSIVE UPDATE: A CYBERPUNK 2077 multiplayer sequel tease just dropped⦠but fans are NOT happy! šØ
After all the hype, the new reveal has left fans feeling disappointed and frustrated. The BOMBSHELL? A teaser that may have promised more but has left the gaming community saying, āIām so tired.ā š
CD Projekt RED might have only just releasedĀ Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate EditionĀ for the Nintendo Switch 2, but developers at the studio are already at work on the sequel.
Despite the rocky launch,Ā Cyberpunk 2077Ā ended up being a brilliant game, selling millions and pulling in dedicated fans who adore the franchise.
Rumours and discussion regarding the sequel, supposedly called simplyĀ Cyberpunk 2, point to the follow-up having a multiplayer focus.
Itās likely to be a separate mode for players to gather with friends, but many donāt see the point of it and feel disgruntled towards the idea.
On Reddit, one fan wrote out aĀ lengthy postĀ saying they ācanāt understand why CDPR canāt accept being a single player developerā.
“Was 30 million copies not good enough? They keep doing interviews about Orion saying how they are strongly considering multiplayer, for what? Another bad launch? To take half the dev team away to focus on something half of your fans donāt care about or will even play? How the hell would it even work? Itās just a pointless idea. You wanna do multiplayer? Fine. Then make a new IP, Iām so tired of developers taking advantage of single player gamers by forcing multiplayer and live service into single player games and franchises. Cause they arenāt original to come up with their own shit and they know nowadays multiplayer doesnāt have a strong enough rep to sell a game on its own. Keep this franchise single player. Keep the Witcher single player. Keep making boatloads of money doing what you do best. Why potentially sabotage it?”
They go on to say, āWas 30 million copies not good enough? How the hell would it even work? Itās just a pointless idea. Iām so tired of developers taking advantage of single player gamers by forcing multiplayer and live service into single player games and franchises.ā
Iād argue that the developer likely has a unique way to implement multiplayer into the sequel, but the concern is valid.
One reply notes competition with other open-world action games,Ā saying, āSimple answer isĀ GTA 5Ā online kinda f**ked the market. They made billions with their shark cards, so now every developer wants to try and chase that.ā
Another user notes, āThe one lie that every company is built on is infinite wealth. No amount is ever good enough.ā
However, as one playerĀ points out, ā2077Ā was originally going to have multiplayer but was cancelled along with the other expansions so they could fix the base game, it’s not like they’re randomly deciding out of nowhere.ā
CD Projekt RED abandoned so many plans for the original game, although the RED Engine couldnāt support multiplayer fully, so this might just be their chance at fulfilling that vision.
