Cyberpunk 2077 fans will no doubt be keen to learn work on the sequel is starting to heat up.

While The Witcher 4 is obviously CD Projekt RED’s big focus for the next few years and beyond, behind the scenes the studio is quietly staffing up for the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 – codenamed Project Orion.

Eagle-eyed fans have spotted a number of job listings have gone live for the sequel, and these ads have provided some early details about what to expect from the follow-up to the sci-fi RPG.

One of the more exciting prospects is a “realistic and reactive crowd system”, which certainly sounds like it could lead to a super immersive open world.

Personally, however, I was relieved to see the game will once again be in first-person. Probably obvious, yes, but I’m gladdened to learn CDPR hasn’t decided to abandon one of the first game’s most vital features. For my money Cyberpunk 2077 just wouldn’t have been the same in third-person, even if you can only check out your bodacious outfits in a mirror. That’s just like real-life, man.

It also suggests CD Projekt RED isn’t wasting time screwing around with the option to toggle between first and third-person which, frankly, has always felt like a coward’s compromise to me. Either your game was made for first-person or it was made for third, damn it.

I am, of course, keeping my expectations in check for the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 after what happened with the last game’s launch. But considering the foundation CDPR now has to build on, it’s hard not to let my hopes raise a little.
