I’m a sucker for attention to detail.

If I’m playing a narrative-driven game, you best bet that I’m going to read every single document I stumble across whilst surveying my surroundings with a beady eye for environmental storytelling cues.

That being said, so many open-world titles are so excessively detailed these days that even for someone like myself, it’s impossible to take everything in.

This is why it’s so important that games foster communities, so that we can share our discoveries with one another.

What I might’ve stumbled across may have gone unnoticed by another player and vice versa.

This is all especially true when it comes to games by the likes of Rockstar Games and CD Projekt RED who are masterful in their attention to detail.

That’s why today, I’d like to highlight a poignant Cyberpunk 2077 discovery that while was important to unearth, may leave you feeling a tad deflated.

This discovery was pointed out by Reddit user KillerGrass, who simply wrote, “This fact made me sad”.

They directed fellow players’ attention to a point made on the Cyberpunk 2077 wiki which details that no one in the base game’s story uses V’s full name

This comes after V explains that only those that truly understand them will do so.

It signifies that even the romantic partners and comrades V acquires throughout their escapades in Night City don’t quite grow close enough to V to honour their real identity.

It is pointed out, however, that Johnny Silverhand can potentially say it during Phantom Liberty’s ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’ quest, but it’s not a guarantee – and it’s certainly not something that happens within the base game.

I wonder if that’s why the moment was brought in during the DLC, because it’s pretty tragic to think of V as lacking that deep of a connection.
