Announced by President Donald Trump and led by Elon Musk, DOGE is a temporary organization that aims to reduce wasteful and fraudulent federal spending, as well as eliminate excessive regulations.

The agency has alarmed citizens after gaining access to the Treasury Department’s payment system which may put the sensitive data of millions of Americans at risk. Those critical of DOGE have raised concerns about Musk’s involvement given the fact that his companies, SpaceX, included, receive billions of dollars in government contracts.

Coming to the Super Bowl, rumors have been circulating social media for a few days now, stating that Musk is ready to expose the said government waste found by DOGE.

Whether or not this is true remains to be seen. But just how much will this cost the billionaire? Let’s take a look.

As per the report, Musk has invested in a total of five ads, each 30 seconds long, for his mission at the Super Bowl. It goes without saying that getting a slot at a popular event is no joke and does a serious number on a person’s bank account.

As per reports, one thirty-second commercial at the Super Bowl costs a whopping $8 million today, a million-dollar increase from last year (via USA Today). This means that if the rumors are true, Musk has spent a total of $40 million on ads to expose government waste.

Of course, the price of a commercial has only increased over time. Apparently, the first World Championship game priced their slots at $40,000 each. Take a look at the difference between the past and the present below:

Given Musk’s insane moves and decisions in the past, $40 million for ads at the Super Bowl seems pretty doable for the billionaire. However, only time will tell if the rumors hold any weight to them or not.

Super Bowl LIX is currently being televised in the United States by Fox and streamed on Tubi.
