It’s been almost seven years since Bethesda first announced that they were working on a new Elder Scrolls game, and the studio has been silent ever since. However, with Starfield finally released, it is speculated that Elder Scrolls 6 is approaching its final development stages.
The first teases and leaks for the game have begun with a new report revealing some key gameplay details.
According to Spanish leaker Extas1s, Elder Scrolls 6 is titled Hammerfell and will be the series’ most immersive title to date. The game will also feature naval combat and shipbuilding akin to Starfield.
Why It Matters: The last Elder Scrolls release was over 14 years ago, and fans have high expectations and hope for the next entry. If the leaks are true, Elder Scrolls 6 might be the best title in the franchise.

The report also suggests that the game will revisit Hammerfell and High Rock, where Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall took place. A developer working on the game also teased the same setting last year. Overall, the full game will feature around 12-13 cities.
The progression system will also be reworked, abandoning classes in favor of a more natural progression with better combat. Moreover, settlement buildings featuring fortresses and villages are set to be a major part of the game.
The game will reportedly be revealed in July 2025, when we can expect a summer showcase from Xbox.
However, it’s important to take these details with a grain of salt until the official reveal says so.
Previously, there have been leaks about an upcoming Elder Scrolls 4 remake, and if that holds true, the next mainline entry may still be far away from launch.
