Xbox is heavily chasing a new multiplatform strategy to adapt to the changing console landscape, and it feels like the conglomerate is ready to abandon yet another exclusive in favor of sales and profits.
A new report now claims that a Fable port for PlayStation 5 is not only in development but is also launching on day one on the platform.
Why it matters: A highly awaited Xbox exclusive launching on PlayStation 5 simultaneously shows that Microsoft is extremely serious about pursuing the multiplatform strategy, abandoning exclusives altogether.

Fable developer expanded with a third studio to meet 2025 launch targets.
A notable Spanish news site, Vandal, claims that Fable is launching day one on PlayStation 5—a simultaneous launch across all platforms. Starfield and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are heading straight for Sony’s current-gen platform this year.
That’s not all; insiders have also clarified that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and Halo: The Masterchief collection will arrive on PlayStation 5 sometime in the future. Regardless, this is certainly not the first time insiders have raised voices about a Fable PS5 port.
However, no one expected it to launch simultaneously on all platforms without any timed exclusivity for Xbox. As a reminder, Doom: The Dark Ages is receiving the same treatment in just a few months.

Past rumors also corroborate the claim about Fable launching day one on PS5.
For those not in the know, Fable is set to come out this year after spending a long time in development. However, a release date is still yet to be confirmed by the studio; speculations suggest that late 2025 is our best bet.
