Fortnite’s recent collaboration with Skibidi Toilet is facing a lot of backlash from the game’s player community at the moment.

Skibidi Toilet is by far the most annoying meme creation to date, and it does not seem to be going away anytime soon. It took over the internet like fire takes over petrol, with flames reaching beyond just our social media platforms.

This ‘trend’ seems to have found its way into Fortnite as well. The game is well known for fan-favorite collaborations and has executed many successful collaborations in the past. However, Skibidi Toilet is by far the worst collaboration decision since it is a poor fit for the overall aesthetic and tone of the game.

Skibidi Toilet has its roots attached to Valve; however, there is no direct involvement of Valve in any of this; it is still partly responsible for this creation since it originated as a fan-made video series using Valve’s Source Filmmaker. Skibidi Toilet uses assets from Valve’s games

The studio has often been too lenient with players and has allowed creators to freely use its assets and resources for fan-made projects. It has often adopted a lenient stance in these matters. This leniency enabled the Skibidi Toilet’s creator to use its assets and lead it to massive popularity.

Fortnite is known for riding the cultural wave through various collaborations since it helps developers keep the game fresh and exciting. Fortnite’s radar seems to have caught the scent of Skibidi Toilet at the moment, and fans are furious about this.

Fortnite needs to reevaluate its approach towards collaborations. The oversaturation of Skibidi content is one of the major contributors to the current backlash, and the game needs to do better than this. Most players love the older days of the game.

Fortnite has often collaborated with big names, including Marvel, Star Wars, and music artists like Travis Scott, and compared to all this, Skibidi Toilet seems like a major step down.

Nothing much can be expected out of Valve since it rarely interferes with the player community. Going forward, Fortnite needs to reevaluate its approach to collaborations.
