Gamers Rejoice As Dune: Awakening Drops On Steam May 20th—But Console Players Aren’t So Lucky

Funcom’s survival MMO Dune: Awakening is highly anticipated, especially after the wonderful Dune movies by Dennis Villeneuve. While we didn’t have a release date before, the developers have finally confirmed that the game will be released in May 2025.

Why it matters: Dune: Awakening received excellent reviews from last month’s demo, hyping the title even more. Now, fans will be delighted to hear the launch is closer than ever.

Funcom has released a brand new trailer for Dune: Awakening, announcing that it will be released on May 20, 2025, just three months from now. However, this isn’t good news for console players, as they’ll have to wait longer.

For now, players can utilize the Character Creator and Benchmark Mode before the release to test if their hardware is capable enough. Furthermore, those players will also receive a free Frameblade knife skin. Dune Game Dune: Awakening is set to launch on PC in May without a console release date

Dune: Awakening takes place on the sandy planet of Arrakis. As the new trailer showcases, players will have to face serious threats, including massive worms, dust storms, and more. However, it’s set in an alternate universe and doesn’t link with the movies.

Nonetheless, players will be glad to learn about the release date. Those who played the beta admit there were some shortcomings, but we hope the developers fix them in the final version of the game.
