Grand Theft Auto VI is finally set to launch this year, if it’s not subject to any delays.

As we’re all well aware, there’s no fixed release date at the time being with Rockstar Games instead sticking to the vague window of fall.

That means that the game should land sometime between September and November, so there’s not too much longer to wait.

I hardly need to explain to you why this is the most highly anticipated release the industry has ever seen.

Rockstar Games’ developers are masters of their craft and so the prospect of soon having a brand-new, expertly detailed open world we can dive into is an exciting one.

There’s a ton that we don’t know about that open world though, given that Rockstar has dropped nothing beyond the original reveal trailer.

We’re still waiting on gameplay and any information really aside from the fact that the game is set in Vice City and centres around Jason and Lucia.

But don’t be silly enough to think that’s stopped fans from acquiring some interesting intel.

The GTA VI Mapping Project has been ongoing for well over a year now, with fans of the series using the game’s trailer as well as leaked gameplay materials to, well, map out what they believe the game’s open world will look like based on the available evidence.

Certainly, yes, that doesn’t make this an official map but I would like to point out that a similar project was carried out ahead of the launch of GTA V and the fan-made creation ended up being pretty accurate.

As such, while I have to urge you to take this mapping project with a pinch of salt, there’s likely some truth to be taken away from it.

In a recent glimpse at the updated mapping project, Reddit user Miserable-Way4048 placed GTA VI’s mock-up map alongside that of the game Just Cause 2 showing that the two are very similar in size.

Just Cause 2 offers up an enormous open world, with HowLongToBeat reporting that it takes players, on average, 86.5 hours to achieve 100% completion on the game.

That bodes well for GTA VI if the two games are to boast similarly sized maps.

Again, I want to urge you to take this information with a pinch of salt. Already though, GTA fans are letting their hype take over.

“If it’s [two times] the size of GTA V then that’s good enough for me. Just give good euphoria ragdoll, car physics, and detailed car customisation,” wrote Any-Transition-196.

“I want a big map, but with a lot of random events, like the ones we see in RDR2,” added Diabolical_Mars.

Let’s hope the game lives up to everybody’s expectations.
