There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding GTA VI, but one aspect of its upcoming release gamers can agree on is what excuses they’ll make to book time off work.

Despite the majority of GTA fans being terrified of a delay being announced, that isn’t stopping them from planning ahead.

When the game finally is released, GTA VI fans want to be able to properly enjoy the new-gen features of the game in peace, free from distractions.

On r/GTA6, PlayShelf asked, “What will be your excuse to avoid work, duties, and responsibilities to play GTA VI?”

Surprisingly, the main excuse is to be honest and say they’re taking it off to play the game.

“I told my supervisor yesterday that I’ll be sick sometime toward the end of the year, sometime in the fall really… he just looked at me,” revealed Finnalandem.

It seems they’re not alone in this bold decision – many others have agreed that “no excuse is needed”.

You may think this is a foolhardy way to prep for the upcoming launch, yet as numerous fans have pointed out, annual leave is yours to do with as you see fit.

“Yep, my annual leave, my choice what I use it for!” argued Vix3092.

Individuals not wishing to use their holidays for time off work are considering saving up their sick days instead.

User mmiller17783 said, “I’m contemplating saving my sick days for the day of release and three days after.”

They then added, “But barring that, I’m not gonna make an excuse to play something I’ve been waiting to play for going on a decade now.”

It’s always wise to have multiple options to work with should your first plan fall through.

In the words of one fan, “It would be interesting to see some statistics of how many people worldwide skip school or work on release day.”

We’d love to see those stats too, once they become available.

Of course, everyone is assuming that autumn 2025 is still the release date window. Let’s hope for their sakes that it is.
