Renée Victor, who has voiced characters in Skyrim as well as Oblivion Remastered, passed away at the age of 86 due to lymphoma.
Throughout her 43-year career, Renée Victor appeared in many TV shows and movies and voiced many iconic characters. On 30 May 2025, the American actress passed away, with the cause of death ruled as lymphoma. The actress’s influence also extended to the gaming industry, as she collaborated with Bethesda Game Studios to voice characters in two of the franchise’s most successful Elder Scrolls video games.
Victor first worked with Bethesda to provide the voice of female Argonians in the studio’s 2011 video game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Many believe that this was Victor’s last video game role. However, she worked with Bethesda once again to voice the female Khajiit in 2025’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Actress Renée Victor’s representative has confirmed that the actress passed away at the age of 86 at her home in Sherman Oaks on May 30th, 2025, due to lymphoma. Her daughters, Raquel Victor and Margo Victor, released a statement which read (via Deadline),
Renée is perhaps best known as the voice of ‘Abuelita’ in Disney’s 2017 blockbuster Coco – Renée was loved by so many & had fans all over the world. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
The actress was well-known for voicing female Argonians in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but that wasn’t her last video game role. Even in her 80s, the dedicated actress showcased her talent, and her most recent work can be found in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, a game that has convinced fans that they need five more remasters from Bethesda.
The actress voiced the female Khajiit, once again proving that she is perfect for the role. Victor has also appeared in many TV shows and movies throughout her four-decade career. She is a talented choreographer and singer. In fact, she started her career as a dancer.

After moving to Los Angeles from San Antonio, Texas, in the 1960s, Renée Victor sang for prominent bandleaders like Xavier Cugat and Perez Prado, who were determined to popularise Latin music in the U.S. At the time, she was also a dance instructor, teaching salsa and tango. From 1963 to 1973, Victor and her husband traveled globally to perform under the banner “Ray & Renee.” However, the shift in her career came in 1983, when she bagged a minor role in the show Hotel.
She then transitioned to film and TV work and joined the Screen Actors Guild in 1973. Her work in TV shows like Matlock and Scarecrow and Mrs. King, and movies like A Night in Old Mexico, The Doctor, and The Apostle, played a key role in popularising her among a wider audience.
She has showcased her exceptional talent in the show ER, 2014’s Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, and Weeds. In 2017, Victor voiced Abuelita Elena in the Disney-Pixar animated film Coco.
