Old Lumiere is an unmissable location visited during the main story, and it culminates in fighting one of the main bosses in Clair Obscur during Act 2, Renoir. While the general location itself is unmissable, you can very easily miss the newly opened areas that can only be accessed after defeating Renoir. After the fight against Renoir, you are automatically taken back to camp, where the party confronts Verso, making it easy to never revisit the location. You can revisit Old Lumiere at any point before starting NG+, but I’d recommend going there right away.
Revisit Old Lumiere After Fighting Renoir During Act 2 In Clair Obscur
There’s Great Loot, A Paint Cage, & More
As you finish up your journey through Old Lumiere with your party finally reunited at the Manor to defeat Renoir, you’ll have to suffer through yet another devastating moment in Clair Obscur. You’ll then be teleported back to camp to watch all the party members get mad at Verso for being such a liar. Once you leave camp, you should make it a priority to go back into Old Lumiere to explore two newly accessible areas. First, starting from the Manor Gardens Expedition Flag where you fought Renoir, head to the path to your right to find a Paint Cage.
Shoot the locks to get the Redalim weapon for Lune, and you can also find a
Colour of Luminanearby. One of the two paths you can take from here will lead you to the Journal for Expedition 42, as well as some Chroma. If you return and take the other route, you’ll be able to face a Gold Chevaliere to pick up the
Perilous Parry Pictos after grappling and climbing some buildings. You can grab the Healing Death Pictos nearby as well, which recovers full health for the rest of the Expedition upon dying.
There’s A Colour Of Lumina Exploit In Old Lumiere You Shouldn’t Pass Up
Head Back To The Entrance Of Old Lumiere To Fight The Chromatic Danseuse

The second area requires fast traveling back to the Entrance flag for Old Lumiere. Heading past Mandelgo the Merchant, you’ll find a new path opened up to your right. Follow this until you reach the Train Station Ruins flag, where the Chromatic Danseuse can be found. I highly recommend you take advantage of this “glitch” against the Chromatic Danseuse enemy that allows you to farm a ridiculous amount of Colour of Lumina. It can only be done once, and basically, you want to exploit its ability to produce clones.
“You can technically continue farming Colour of Luminas as long as you have the patience to do so.”
The Chromatic Danseuse will drop 5x Colour of Lumina for each of its clones you defeat, with no upper limit (as far as I can tell). This means you can technically continue farming Colour of Luminas as long as you have the patience to do so. To do so, you’ll need to avoid killing the Chromatic Danseuse for as long as possible. When you do eventually kill it, you’ll reap a massive bounty of Colour of Lumina, and you will also be rewarded with the Danseso weapon for Verso.
The exploit will likely be updated at some point, and it has reportedly been a drag on some players’ systems, causing lag or slowed performance and even some instances of crashes. This is yet another reason I recommend going back to Old Lumiere sooner rather than later. While it’s possible to revisit Old Lumiere anytime before you start NG+, the loot in this area and this exploit are more useful earlier in the game before you start the more challenging side content.
Why It’s A Good Idea To Revisit Old Lumiere ASAP
Danseso Is A Great Weapon At This Point In Clair Obscur

The Danseso is one of two weapons you get by revisiting Old Lumiere, and it’s arguably one of the better weapons you can have at this point in the game during your first playthrough. The Danseso is a Verso weapon that synergizes extremely well with Burn-based party builds. Danseso will benefit from equipping Pictos and/or Luminas that ensure Verso has the Powerful buff as often as possible, but using his Powerful skill is the most straightforward way to get the buff. The Level 10 upgrade for Danseso gives a 20% chance to apply Burn on hit if Verso is Powerful.
If you already have the Perilous Parry Pictos, picking it up in Old Lumiere will upgrade it instead.
Aside from Danseso and Redalim, you also pick up the Perilous Parry and Healing Death Pictos when revisiting Old Lumiere, which can be very useful at this stage in the game, depending on your builds. From the excellent mid-game weapons and Pictos to the XP to the Chromatic Danseuse exploit, there are plenty of enticing reasons to revisit Old Lumiere and explore the newly accessible areas after defeating Renoir. Even if you don’t exploit the Chromatic Danseuse, the trip is well worth it, and it will make your journey through Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 much easier.
