“Ginny & Georgia” fans are used to twists and turns in the show, especially after the shocking ending that viewers received in the season 3 finale. Let’s face it, the show and writers, of course, have a way of leaving us on our toes, guessing what the next move will be.
But nothing, I mean nothing, prepared them for this real-life revelation.
Did you know that Raymond Ablack, who plays fan-favorite Joe, and Rebecca Ablack, who plays Padma, are brother and sister in real life? YES, SHOCKER!
That’s right. Not only are they both part of the hit Netflix series, but they’ve been quietly achieving a sibling dream on set together.
The Ablack Sibling Surprise!
Several fans put two and two together after TikTok users began to stalk his Instagram account. In a photo that was posted in 2018, Raymond had posted a heartfelt carousel of behind-the-scenes photos with his sister Rebecca during her graduation.
“Oh how the turntables have…(gulp),” he said. “My sister is the superior R. Ablack at my old high school, Cardinal Carter Academy for the arts. She won up all the awards: Drama Awar, RJ McCarthy Award, TV, Video and Movie Production Award, Ontario Scholar, 4 year Honour Roll…Can you tell I’m proud of her?”
Fans quickly lost their collective minds in the comment section as they began to connect the dots.
“Omg padma is your sisterrrrr” one shocked fan wrote. Another chimed in recalling a scene in the show, saying, “So when padma said “he’s like a dumb old brother”… it was true!!!!”
A third added, “I just binge watched Season 3 and now seeing Padma is your real life sister! Your mom and dad made gorgeous kids. Lol”
And just like that, the internet exploded with love for the talented Canadian siblings. On TikTok, users stitched scenes from the show with reaction videos yelling “NO WAY!” while others shared the news under the trending hashtag #GinnyAndGeorgia.
From Small Roles to Big Reactions
In “Ginny & Georgia,” Raymond plays Joe, the charming and slightly awkward café owner with a soft spot for the southern mom of two. Meanwhile, Rebecca appears as Padma, Marcus’ on-again, off-again girlfriend and local musician with a strong attitude and killer eyeliner.
Though their characters don’t interact much onscreen, knowing their real-life connection adds a whole new layer of fun for fans rewatching the series. What’s even sweeter is their sibling relationship. Raymond revealed that he had found out about Rebecca’s casting and was immediately excited for her journey!
In a TikTok video, the actor is seen saying, “When she got cast, that’s when I was like…that’s when I realized, ‘I think that might be my dream.’”
“If I could be in a scene with Beck, that would be my dream.” Cue the collective “awwwws!”
What’s Next for the Netflix Hit?
“Ginny & Georgia” has become a breakout success since it first premiered in 2021, quickly climbing Netflix’s top 10 charts thanks to its mix of drama, humor, and secrets. The show, created by Sarah Lampert, follows a free-spirited single mom (Brianne Howey) and her teenage daughter (Antonia Gentry) as they settle into a new town with more baggage than they let on.
Seasons 2 and 3 delivered more drama, more cliffhangers, and even more questions about Georgia’s checkered past and Ginny’s future. Thankfully, Netflix has confirmed that the story isn’t over just yet. The show has been renewed for a fourth season.
According to Howey, who spoke to StyleCaster about the new season, fans can expect deeper character arcs and more revelations. “If you’ve watched these three seasons, you know all three of those things are coming,” she said. “It’s always like Ginny and Georgia are all contrast, and that’s what they’re so amazing at writing. So yes, it’s gonna be all three from my experience on the show.”
“The stakes just keep getting higher and higher with each season. So I am positive that for Season 4, the stakes will be higher than ever,” she continued.
As for the Ablack siblings? Viewers are hoping they’ll both return in future episodes, especially now that their real-life bond is public knowledge!
I don’t know about you, but I need a Joe and Padma scene ASAP, now! Here’s to waiting for Season 4!
