Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hahn opened up about her hopes for the future of her role as Agatha Harkness in the MCU. When the subject of Agatha All Along being nominated in awards categories outside of Limited Series came up, Hahn exclaimed, “I know. Was it always in Limited Series? I’m not sure, but yes, we all were like, ‘Oh!’ But I think there’s a show about Vision coming, so it could be… we don’t know.” When asked what might be coming down the pipeline in the near future, Hahn responded, “I really don’t know. I really don’t know, but I would play her forever if I could. I love her so much.”
Hahn made her MCU debut as the centuries-old witch Agatha Harkness on WandaVision, in which she starred alongside the leading duo of Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as Wanda Maximoff and the Vision, respectively. Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, Hahn’s Agatha Harkness became an instant hit with fans. This was especially true after the premiere of the series’ hit musical number, “Agatha All Along,” which revealed her character as the driving force behind much of the WandaVision‘s underlying nefarious plot.
Kathryn Hahn Returned as Agatha in What If…?
Hahn returned to the role of Agatha Harkness for the recently released Disney+ series, Agatha All Along, which saw the titular antivillain take to the fabled Witches’ Road alongside a hastily chosen coven consisting of Patti LuPone’s Lilia Calderu, Sasheer Zamata’s Jennifer Kale, Ali Ahn’s Alice Wu-Gulliver, Debra Jo Rupp’s Mrs. Hart, and Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal. The series also introduced Joe Locke as Teen, aka Billy Kaplan, better known as Wiccan, one of the reincarnated sons of the Scarlet Witch and Vision. Much like WandaVision, Agatha All Along became an overnight sensation, amassing an 84% “Fresh” rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
Following the series’ conclusion, showrunner Jac Schaeffer discussed Agatha’s character as a whole, particularly in regard to where Agatha All Along left her upon its conclusion.”We knew from the very beginning that Agatha would end as a ghost. She’s a terrific ghost. It felt very correct to do that,” Schaeffer said. “I do think we witness change in this woman, but she’s not a good guy at the end of the show, and I don’t think she ever will be.”
Agatha All Along is currently available for streaming on Disney+.
