Despite being a single player title, The Witcher 3 is still the talk of the gaming town, but Geralt’s voice actor isn’t surprised by this fact.

It feels like The Witcher 3 was released yesterday, but the reality is that in just a few months from now, the game will complete its 10th anniversary. The game, which made our childhoods brighter is about to complete its decade-long dominance, and it makes us realize that we are getting old and our childhood is over.

Now, the interesting fact is that just like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, the CD Projekt Red action RPG is still more than relevant in today’s gaming world, as the game has successfully managed to hold its popularity since its launch. But what is the reason behind this longevity despite being a single-player title? The voice actor of the game’s main protagonist has the answer.
The voice behind the main protagonist of The Witcher 3 knows why the game has this longevity

As we step into the 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in May, players are wondering what kept the game’s popularity intact after this long time period. However, this doesn’t surprise Doug Cockle, the voice behind the game’s main protagonist, Geralt. Here’s what he stated in an interview with GamesRadar about the longevity of that game:
It was a milestone in game development for all kinds of reasons: the quality of the animation; the quality of the gameplay; the visuals; the sound design; the storytelling; the writing. All of it was so amazing when it first came out, and it continues to be amazing.
Cockle gives the credit mainly to the “level of the immersive storytelling” of the game. As per him, there have been a lot of games released since 2015, but very few of them have been able to stay in the race like The Witcher 3 has done so far.
Cockle also believes the game’s insane popularity has helped the original novels garner so much love from fans around the world and that is how “this whole wonderful new fantasy world became available to people who had no idea it existed before.”
A lot of credit goes to Cockle himself too. His deep and bold voice has helped Geralt become the face of the game for so many times. However, Cockle this time has to take a step backward as the upcoming The Witcher title will have a new protagonist, and the OG voice actor isn’t hesitant to support that choice by CDPR.
Still, we are going to immerse ourselves in the voice of the American actor as he will again fill in the shoes of Geralt in Netlfilx’s upcoming anime movie, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep.
Is Skyrim still worth playing in 2025 and why is the answer “yes”?
Millions of people are still playing, talking about, writing articles, and creating videos about Bethesda’s unstoppable fantasy role-playing game ten years after it was first released. Something about Skyrim draws players in year after year, and it has had a cultural impact that most video games could only hope for. Even those who have no interest in video games are likely to have some vague knowledge of Skyrim. But what is the reason behind this success?

Even after hundreds of hours and having explored every inch of the map, the freedom of Skyrim is thrilling. RPGs don’t get much more thrilling than creating a new character, emerging from that cave, and seeing the entire world unfold before you.
The idea of being able to go anywhere, do anything, and be anyone is enticing. This is the key to the absurdly high replayability of the game. No two playthroughs are ever the same because of the world’s dynamic, unpredictable nature and this liberating freedom.
The simulation that powers Skyrim is another factor that makes it so replayable. Skyrim is a collection of games, whereas most role-playing games are essentially one type of game. Without completing quests, following the plot, or even brandishing your sword, you can still play and have fun.
You can simply hike, fish, cut wood, and wander the wilderness if you so choose. It could be a hunting simulation or a survival game. You can build and decorate homes with your time, go for a romantic relationship, and even employ people to defend you. The thing is wild in its breadth.
