While the Justice League 2 trailer is fan-made, it takes inspiration from Snyder’s revealed plans for the DCEU movie that never was. In 2021, Zack Snyder explained his Justice League 2 plans. According to the director, the main point of the movie was that Superman would succumb to Darkseid’s Anti-Life Equation. With the world taken over by its ruthless new overlord, Ben Affleck’s Batman comes up with a plan that involves the Flash going back to the past to make sure things happen differently.

The fan trailer shows a crucial part of that story, with Henry Cavill’s Superman holding the body of someone who had just been burned to death. According to Snyder, Lex Luthor would have told Darkseid that Lois Lane was the key to turning Superman. In order to do that, Darkseid would kill Lois and then successfully make Superman fall to the Anti-Life Equation. The Justice League 2 fan trailer’s recreation of that moment is heartbreaking. The trailer also features the major final battle that would have united every world army to finally defeat Darkseid for good.

Zack Snyder’s DCEU Plans Could Have Had An Epic Ending

I did not like all that Snyder did in the DCEU. That said, I always saw the potential his vision for the Justice League franchise had as an epic Elseworlds tale. With James Gunn’s DCU now replacing the old DCEU, I would not be opposed to Snyder’s Justice League 2 happening outside the main continuity as a cool Elseworlds project. The fan trailer shows the potential the movie has, and seeing Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman in a full-on story with Darkseid would be exciting. Still, I don’t think Netflix could realistically release Zack Snyder’s Justice League 2.
