During an episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, Bryan Freedman, the lawyer for Justin Baldoni, discussed a voice message where Baldoni claims he was kept away from the cast of It Ends With Us at the film’s premiere. This message suggests that Blake Lively didn’t want Baldoni near her or the rest of the cast, leading to rumors of a feud between the two.

The premiere, held at New York City’s AMC Lincoln Square Theater on August 6, 2024, saw Baldoni absent from photos with Lively and the rest of the cast. In the voice message, Baldoni allegedly told his team that he was sent to the basement with his friends and family for over an hour.

‘On what could have been one of the most beautiful nights of my life career-wise, I literally was sent to the basement,’ Baldoni is heard saying, describing the situation as ridiculous but ultimately finding joy in being with his loved ones. Here’s the full video of the show:

Baldoni went on to reflect on the night, emphasizing that his purpose in the industry is to create art that moves people, not just to bask in the spotlight at premieres. ‘We’re in it because we’re artists,’ he said. ‘The truth will prevail, and light and love will win.’

Meanwhile, Variety reported on Lively’s legal response. Her team accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation, backing their claims with ‘concrete facts.’ In December, Lively filed a complaint detailing these accusations, which Baldoni countered with a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times for reporting on the case.

Freedman, Baldoni’s lawyer, hinted at further legal action against Lively and expressed readiness to make all relevant communications public. ‘We’re more than willing to put every single text message on a website for the world to see,’ Freedman stated.

Lively’s legal team, however, dismissed these media tactics as irrelevant to her claims, stressing that ‘sexual harassment and retaliation are illegal in every workplace.’ They vowed to continue pursuing the case in federal court, where facts would determine the outcome.

Lively’s lawyers also criticized attempts to paint her as the offender, labeling such tactics as classic victim-blaming strategies. They reaffirmed that her claims were not just about creative differences but about serious misconduct.
