However, Persona 5 Royal boasts a couple of additional features that are worth exploring that could be helpful in this EXP mission. Some players may find one method of building EXP more challenging than another, but the variety of approaches on offer should be enough to give everyone a chance of finding success. Get ready to level up those personas and party members with all that EXP, because Persona 5 Royal is about to be a lot more accessible for those who didn’t know how to previously tackle this aspect of the game.
Players Should Fight the Shadows
Palaces & Mementos Provide Opportunities

As Persona 5 Royal players will know, Shadows are the enemy in the title, and defeating them can help the player gain significant EXP. As is always the case in RPGs, combat can reap massive benefits, with players fighting to survive and getting rewarded in the process. Those who continue to throw themselves into the throes of war in Persona 5 Royal will see their EXP points totting up very quickly. Thus, players who don’t mind finding themselves in the thick of the action should take some time to research how to best hit hard, as defeating the variety of Shadows on offer will ultimately add to that EXP.
There are technically nine dungeons to work through, although only seven of them are actually considered to be palaces. What’s particularly fascinating, though, is that palaces can’t really be replayed in Persona 5 Royal. So, once players have defeated one of these dungeons, they cannot go back. Make the most of the points available in those situations, because the opportunity will not appear again.
The additional dungeon that players so often overlook is Mementos, a post-game dungeon where players can continue fighting against the Shadows. While there are other narrative features to explore as part of this unique level design, for those hunting down EXP opportunities, it’s best to focus on any chance to battle back against the enemy.
Boss battles are naturally a very useful resource for EXP and there are around ten of them across the title. Naturally, boss battles can’t be avoided, so players should be prepared to gain that bonus once they have survived these encounters. However, post-game there is The Reaper to consider as the next opponent, a particularly powerful enemy that will drop a huge amount of EXP when defeated.
Perhaps at that stage of the game, players don’t need a boost, since they’ve made it that far after all. But for those looking for a late-stage surge, The Reaper is a great boss battle to expand with. Players will have to really buff out their team’s defenses and power if they are to stand a chance against this near-impossible foe since it is a level 85 enemy.
Studying & Working Can Provide a Boost
These Methods Require Patience

Of course, not everything has to be about battle, something there are other, more peaceful ways of building up EXP. Studying is one of those areas. There are a couple of different locations where players may study, whether that be the diner, school, or even the library. Partially, studying gives players a boost in specific skills, like knowledge.
Players simply have to attend class on weekdays, and there they will be asked questions by the teacher. Answering them correctly will improve the student’s standing, and ultimately help in building their EXP long-term and general points in the short run. The more knowledge a player can build, the more this will impact other dynamics in the game, like key relationships. All of this will continue strengthening the player character, leading to an easier time building EXP.
Some of the questions in Persona 5 Royal are actually different compared to the original Persona 5, so players who have played the original title and think that they should be able to get by smoothly this time around are sadly mistaken. What’s more, because the game boasts additional content, there will be more opportunities to attend school and gain points to ultimately aid in building EXP.

Or they may be able to boost social stats, which can then help to advance the character, again making the hunt for EXP that much more accessible. Just like with schooling, players need to think about the bigger picture when approaching work, because it doesn’t provide an immediate EXP boost, but helps put the necessary pieces in place.
Players can work in the Convenience Store, the Flower Shop, the Beef Bowl Shop or the Crossroads Bar throughout Persona 5 Royal. In each instance, players will be given alternative rewards for doing so, many of which will boost social stats which will eventually help players achieve more things and thus build EXP.
Players who are opting to take this route should observe what each role will provide them with, before making the decision. Time is very much a major factor in all of this, because players need to make the right choices to progress at pace. Choosing a job that does not benefit the strategy could end up being a waste of time, especially since this is not a path that provides instant EXP.
Equipping Specific Gear & Utilizing Personas
Team Glasses & Expedite Ring Are Useful

Team Glasses ultimately increases EXP by 15%, which is an absolute game-changer for those who find themselves battling fairly regularly. But such a product is not easy to access, and players will have to hunt out the Team Glasses to be able to see how they make a difference and must download them with a free DLC. Team Glasses do not stack if multiple characters have them, but that’s really the only drawback.
The Expedite Ring works in much the same way, but players should not expect such an impactful shift. In this case, the accessory only adds a 1.5 boost to the EXP gained. It’s not a significant amount, but it’s enough to make a difference. The ring is a reward after a Mementos encounter with Caroline and Justine. It’s only available in the title once, and so cannot be missed. The sooner players can access this particular piece of kit, the better, as it will enhance all the other strategies in play.
Saki Mitama, Lachesis, Koppa Tengu, and Thoth are just a couple of the Personas that can take on this passive skill. Players need to commit to utilizing these Personas in gameplay, but the most important things to be mindful of are Izanagi, Izanagi Picaro, Raphael, and Narcissus because they can access the highest level of growth. Players simply need to level these characters to be able to access these useful abilities.
Keep Exploring the Game
Countless Opportunities Can Provide EXP Bonuses

Players who want to keep boosting their EXP can do a very simple thing and that is keep exploring the game. Persona 5 Royal, like its predecessor, is designed to be played in great detail. It’s the kind of title that requires a huge amount of time and energy put into it, to be able to really open up. The developers have thought long and hard about how the game has been balanced, and EXP is a key part of that. Just like getting a job or going to school, each activity completed in the title will keep the player moving towards leveling up their experience and thus gaining EXP.
Players will find they build EXP organically simply by following the narrative and engaging accordingly. But key gear, certain Personas, high-level battles and engaging in random activities will all help the mission of quickly building EXP. There is one important lesson to take away from all of this though. EXP is scaled based on level. The higher the level, the less EXP a player will gain from defeating an enemy. EXP is also divided up among the party, so that’s also something to keep in mind. Essentially, the EXP displayed on screen isn’t quite the EXP the player will actually get due to many contributing factors, but trusting the process will lead to fantastic results.
