Marvel officially unveils our new, wildly different Avengers team

Marvel certainly knows how to shake things up.

If you’re under the impression that Marvel plays it safe with its creative choices, you need look no further than this new Avengers team to prove you wrong.

We say Avengers, but they actually go by another name.

The Ultimates are far removed from what you think you know about the comics and the MCU.

Characters like Iron Man are replaced with Iron Lad, turning what we think we know on its head to create a daring and wildly different story for us to immerse ourselves in.

The Ultimates include Iron Lad, Doom, Captain America, Hawkeye, Thor, Sif, She-hulk, Giant-Man, Wasp, America Chavez, and The Human Torch.

Some of those characters are familiar, but their origins have been radically altered.

Take Thor as a fine example of this.

Rather than being the golden boy of Asgard, he was falsely imprisoned for treason after the Maker helped Loki gain control.

There’s also the tragic tale of Reed Richards; the Maker welded an iron mask on his face, forcing him to become Doom.

As far as some fans are concerned, this is the “best” content Marvel has produced “in years”.

“This is the greatest thing to come out of Marvel Comics in a long time, I haven’t missed a single issue coming out of the Ultimates universe,” posted @breezuskhrist, further emphasising how well-received this new team has been.

Not only is the community blown away with the originality of the series, but they’re also in awe of the “impeccable” artwork that’s brought the story to life.

Marvel is far from done with its surprises though.

Spider-Man fans are hyped about a surprising new MCU crossover they didn’t see coming but are excited about nonetheless.

A lot is happening right now, and honestly, it’s pretty incredible.
