Monster Hunter Wilds is the next big title in the popular Capcom franchise, but there’s another Monster Hunter title that fans should be playing this February. When Wilds releases on February 28, it will take players on a new adventure through a world of monster hunting. The massive new title promises plenty of monsters to test player skills, featuring both series staples and completely new challenges to overcome.

But there’s another Monster Hunter game that fans of the series should check out: Monster Hunter Now. The mobile AR title is brought to fans by Niantic, the company behind the hit Pokémon GO, and similarly combines the real world with the world of Monster Hunter, and now is the best time to play Now, as the second phase of the collaboration with Wilds nears. Phase Two of the collab event launches on February 28, just ahead of the start of Now‘s Season 5, and will run through March 31, 2025.

Monster Hunter Now launched the first phase of a two-stage collaboration with Monster Hunter Wilds on February 3, bringing content from Wilds into the mobile game. From the launch date until March 31, MH Now players can participate in limited-time quests and events for some great rewards for the mobile title, including the following items:

Though the title is now preparing to enter the second phase of the collab, it’s still possible to participate in all the events through the end of March. Fans Can Own All 12 Hope Weapons, An Inflatable Seikret Rider, And More

The first phase of the collaboration was just the beginning: Phase 2 of the Monster Hunter Now x Wilds collaboration arrives on February 28 with lots more content for fans of the series. The collaboration brings the Chatacabra to MHN, a monster newly introduced in Wilds and never before seen in the franchise. Now players will have to physically go out and look for the long-tongued bullfrog-like creature, which likes desert habitats.

Now players will also be able to own all 12 of the new Hope weapon types from Monster Hunter Wilds. These weapons are perfect to get beginners started because they’ll be given to players straight away, with no need to search for them or find materials to craft them. For the duration of the collab event, these weapons will also get a leveling boost and regular giveaways will provide players with the necessary materials they need to level them up further.

Finally, the collaboration adds two new styles of layered armor to the game, which is cosmetic armor worn on top of the functional armor, so players can enjoy the aesthetics without compromising on stats. The two new layered armors coming as part of the Now x Wilds collab are the incredibly stylish Hope armor and the Seikret Rider. There are no mounts in MH Now, so this armor is a goofier take on the new mount from Wilds, resembling a blow-up costume that makes it look like the player is riding atop their trusty steed and not just a balloon facsimile of one.

Carl Damerow, Executive Producer at Niantic, admitted in a press event that the Seikret layered armor design “actually took quite a bit of engineering work to make the physics of [it] work,” but goes on to note that it was “clearly worth the time as this is just hilarious and awesome.”

Monster Hunter players who are planning to get Wilds might also want to pick up Monster Hunter Now during the collaboration event, for a chance to experience the new mainline title in a different way. Aside from the collab, though, there are plenty of other cool things coming to Now that make February and March the best time to start playing the title. The game is preparing for the start of a new season, celebrating its 1.5-year anniversary, and bringing some fun new goodies and updates to the title to freshen it up based on player feedback.

Season 5, called The Blossoming Blade, starts on March 6 and features new monsters, fighting updates, giveaways, and more. The new season adds series staples Glavenus and Azuros to the mobile title, along with three new skills meant to encourage players to work together to take down these large enemies. Further updates will add new subspecies and a powerful elder dragon as well as new armor designs based on Monster Hunter monsters.

The title is also launching a limited-time carnival-like marketplace system on March 17 that will allow players to exchange earned tickets for rare and hard-to-get materials. This feature is intended to help players who are stuck waiting for materials they need to progress in their journey, but it also helps newcomers to the title get a head-start on gathering materials they’ll need later in the game.

The mobile entry in the Monster Hunter series is also implementing many balance and mechanic updates to improve overall gameplay based on player feedback.
