Nearly 70% Of Black Myth: Wukong Sales Come From China—Art Director Confirms Massive Local Support

Black Myth: Wukong has been one of the best RPGs to release in recent years, with stellar player and sales reception. While its immense success can be attributed to the Chinese players, no one would have expected the sales figure to vary so starkly compared to overseas.

Now, the game’s art director, Yang Qi, has come forward in an interview to confirm that nearly 70% of Black Myth: Wukong sales emerge from China based on the Game Science Data. The remaining 30% of players are from overseas.

‘The earlier data accounted for about 30%, but in fact, this proportion has exceeded our expectations, and it has also been recognized by many overseas players.’

For those not in the know, Black Myth: Wukong has sold over 25 million copies worldwide. So if these statistics are anything to go by, about 17.5 million sales have emerged from China alone, while the rest of 7.5 million are overseas sales.
