As of the writing of this article, Adolescence has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.
Adolescence consists of four episodes, each one filmed in one take. Essentially, the events of the Netflix murder mystery TV show unfold in real time in each installment, resulting in a tense, thrilling, and engrossing story that will leave the audience on the edge of their seats from beginning to end. If they want to feel that rush again, look no further than Evans’ legal drama miniseries.
Netflix’s Adolescence Is A Reminder To Watch Chris Evans’ Defending Jacob On Apple TV+
Both Shows Revolve Around Children Accused Of Murder

Chris Evans’ Apple TV+’s miniseries Defending Jacob shares many things in common with Adolescence, the most obvious being that both shows follow young teenagers suspected of murder. However, the two series contain several twists and turns, culminating in shocking endings. Defending Jacob is longer as it has eight episodes compared to Adolescence‘s four, but the takeaway is the same. If viewers enjoyed one, they will undoubtedly like the other.
Chris Evans is better known as a movie star, but Defending Jacob demonstrates how much he can shine on the small screen, too.
The casts of Defending Jacob and Adolescence are also fantastic, giving impressive performances that elevate the stories. Defending Jacob has Evans, Downton Abbey‘s Michelle Dockery, It‘s Jaeden Martell, and Academy Award-winning actor J.K. Simmons. Meanwhile, the Adolescence cast includes Stephen Graham, Ashley Walters, Erin Doherty, and newcomer Owen Cooper.
Defending Jacob Proves Why Chris Evans Should Do More TV Shows
Evans Has A Streak Of Negatively-Reviewed Movies
Chris Evans is better known as a movie star, but Defending Jacob demonstrates how much he can shine on the small screen, too. His performance is one of the best parts of the murder-mystery miniseries. It’s simply a shame that Evans hasn’t been involved in any TV shows since Defending Jacob (aside from voicing his Scott Pilgrim vs. the World character, Lucas Lee, in the 2023 anime series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off). Given his recent track record of negatively-reviewed films, perhaps Evans should consider returning to TV.

Starting with The Gray Man, Evans hasn’t starred in a critically-acclaimed movie in three years (not counting his cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine). Evans can leave his negative streak in the past, though, and return to TV. Defending Jacob was his first major TV role since 2000, but one wouldn’t be able to tell based on his great performance as Andy Barber, suggesting Evans needs another TV gig. He doesn’t even have to appear in a series similar to Defending Jacob or Adolescence as Evans has the range to take on any role.
