Next God of War Ditches Norse Saga—Insider Claims It’s Set in Greece With a Young Kratos!

Since God of War: Ragnarok ended the Ghost of Sparta’s journey in Norse mythology, fans debated what setting Kratos should visit next. Previously, there have been rumors about a potential Egypt setting for the series.

In a new Insider Gaming podcast, reliable insider Tom Henderson revealed that the God of War franchise is headed back to Greece for the next entry.

Why it matters: While fans love the new Norse setting for God of War, many miss the older version of Kratos in the Greek setting. They’ll be pleased to know that the franchise is returning to its roots after over a decade.

As per the insider, the next game will feature a younger Kratos. The insider also cleared the earlier rumors regarding the Egyptian setting, which he stated were inaccurate.

Moreover, during the Insider Gaming podcast, Tom Henderson stated that the next game is about Kratos’ relationship with his father.

Apparently, the storyline’s more to do like his relationship with his father.

It’s unclear if that refers to Zeus or a father figure from Kratos’ Spartan days. Zeus’ story ended with the original trilogy, and it’s exciting to see what part of Kratos’ life the franchise decides to unveil next.

The next rumored game could be anything from a prequel, a reboot, or even a remaster, corroborating earlier rumors. If such an announcement were to happen, it would likely occur at the PlayStation State of Play, rumored for sometime next week.
