Hunting for these rare items in Oblivion Remastered is a bit of a task, but you’ll eventually find whatever you’re looking for if you’re determined. However, it’s not weapons and armour that players are finding it hard to dig up, master level alchemy seems to be among the rarest items in the game.
Where Is All The Master Alchemy Gear?

You may be a great alchemist in Oblivion Remastered, but we don’t grant you the rank of master unless you have the highest level Mortar & Pestle, Retort, Calcinator and Alembic. It seems a lot of players are having trouble finding master level alchemy equipment, even after revisiting caves and spending hundreds of hours in Cyrodiil.
“My greatest Elder Scrolls feat ever: Finally Finding all Master-tier alchemy apparatuses in Oblivion,” said one player on Reddit, along with a picture of his fancy equipment. The replies were full of people wondering just how they got all the master level alchemy equipment, as they’re almost impossible to come across.
“And here’s me sitting with my Expert Retort and Journeyman Calcinator like a poor person. Congrats, I’ll find mine eventually I’m sure,” said one comment. “I just hit level 37 and have 12 Master Mortar and Pestiles, a single Master Retort and Calcinator, and a Journeyman Alembic. I’ve had the Alembic since level 16,” explained another. “I haven’t found any Master Alembics for sale anywhere and seem to only find the Mortars in just about every dungeon, mine, or Oblivion Gate I step into.”
One player thought they were being clever, but was disappointed to find out that even those who should have the equipment don’t have. “The one place we’d logically expect to find master alchemy tools is the Arcane University, but no,” they said. A certain bunch even gave up on the search and decided to use console commands instead.
